White Owl Lacquers - Come To Me

Today I wanted to show you a polish from my friend Mara's indie polish brand White Owl Lacquers called Come to Me. It was part of their Valentine's Day duo from earlier this year. It's a white crelly base with round metallic pink glitters, different shades of blue hex glitters, and dark blue round glitters. I used three coats for this swatch, but you could layer it over a white creme polish for a more opaque look.

I used a different topcoat on this than I usually use and it ended up bubbling pretty bad but I didn't notice until I was reviewing my photos. I would normally redo them but I didn't think they looked that bad. I like how the translucency of this crelly makes the base look like it's got a pink tinge.

You can purchase White Owl Lacquers on their website, although they are doing maintenance right now. They sell for $9 each. You can keep up with their newest releases on their Facebook page. What do you think of this pretty polish?

Picture Polish - Focus by Pointless Cafe

Today I have another Picture Polish collaboration shade to show you. This one is a creation of Pointless Cafe, a blogger who wanted a polish that reminded her of "wine cup" flowers that flood south Texas in the Spring. Focus is a beautifully ambiguous shade of red/violet/magenta with micro flakes of whiteish silver and glitz in red, blue and pink.

The formula on this is nice but on the thick side. The brush on PP's seems to be more flexible than with other brands; sometimes it works perfectly but with some polishes I feel like a stronger brush would make painting easier, like with this one. I used three coats for this swatch.

You can buy Focus online at Picture Polish's Australian-based website for AUS $12, from Canadian-based website Harlow & Co for $14.50, and US-based website Llarowe for $14.50.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Bloggers' Collection 2.0 Swatches and Review

It is my great pleasure to announce my participation in Rescue Beauty Lounge's Bloggers' Collection 2.0! YAY!! I honestly was beyond flabbergasted when Ji Baek, RBL owner/founder/creator, asked me to create a color for the RBL brand for her second bloggers' collection back in January 2012. I can remember thinking, "This is it. I've made it." My color vision being turned into a real, live, genuine Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polish?! Could there be anything more exciting?!

I wasn't sure who all the other bloggers collaborating with Ji would be, as she does like to keep an air of mystery about certain things, but I knew I would be in excellent company. It has since been revealed that the other color designers for the Bloggers' 2.0 collection are Scrangie, Rie of NailsandNoms, Pammy of Polish Police, Sam of Fashion Polish, and there is a secret addition from Ji herself. Please enjoy this trailer for the collection that Ji made to represent our collection!

I set out right away to come up with a color worthy of the RBL brand that represented me and what I wanted the world to see from me. I came up with something fantastic and bright and amazing in my head. Ji came up with the exact shade I had imagined right away, but it turned out to be unstable due to the neon pigments separating. She worked incredibly hard to come up with something similar but just as awesome. After more than a few tries, we finally came to a match of what I had longed for. I know this is the color that took the longest to match for the collection and I am so glad Ji didn't give up on me or my polish!

This color is called Kellie Gonzo, and it is me in a bottle. It's a bright juicy pink coral opaque jelly with tons of orange glitter and silvery flecks. It's more orangey indoors and more pinky in the sun. It's lovely at two coats and has a tad more intensity at three coats, as in this swatch. I think it has a perfect formula, easy to apply, smooth, translucent yet with full coverage, and shiny. A photograph cannot accurately portray the yummy juiciness of the polish, but I hope you like what you see enough to take my word for it. It's a great big smile from me to you! I hope you like it even half as much as I do.

The first person I expected to be in this collaboration with Ji was Scrangie, one of the most talented, popular, and established nail polish bloggers in the world. She is one of my biggest inspirations and having had a hugely successful color in RBL's first Bloggers' collection, I was chomping at the bit waiting to see what she would come up with this round.

Her color is called Scrangie 2.0, a blackened base with an oil slick-like multifaceted shimmer effect. This is an intense shimmer polish with a metallic edge to it in shades of green, gold, bronze, and gunmetal. This had an excellent formula and is opaque in two coats. Breathtaking in the sunlight, just really a stunning creation.

Next is a color from one of my most beloved blogging friends, Marie Antoinette aka Rie who authors the blog NailsandNoms, which is also the name of her color. This girl is so creative and funky she embodies the word "cool" to me. Her color is an uber bright sherbet orange with a gorgeous periwinkle blue shimmer tint that also has a little bit of pink and orange glimmer to it. This is excellently loud and outrageous and is perfect to represent Rie. This is two coats.

This color is the brainchild of the awesome Sam who writes the blog Fashion Polish and has named her polish the same. I am also lucky to call Sam a friend and was so happy to hear of her inclusion in this collaboration. Her color is a rich and shiny black base packed to the brim with red and gold glitters. I heard this color was a challenge to create due to the pigment weight but of course Ji prevailed in the end. This is a gorgeously beautiful polish that brings to mind an inky black galaxy brimming with starlight. I used two coats for this swatch. It's a bit thick so take your time during application.

This polish was created by Pammy from the blog Polish Police who hails from the Philippines. She is a super cute girl and I adore her blog, so I was excited to see her contribution to the collection. The color is called Liberty, a minty green sister of RBL color Pizzicato. It has a lovely underlying angelic layer of glass fleck reflective bits and a blue shimmer overlay. A perfect spin on the classic mint green. The formula is also nice, maybe a tad on the thick side. Two coats here.

And to round out the collection, Ji decided to sneak in one of her own creations. This is called An Accidental Interloper, coming from her insertion into the group of bloggers' colors. I doubt anyone minds though, any new color Ji wants to bring to life is alright with me. This color was created to fill the silver "void" in the RBL family. It's a gorgeous gunmetal silver metallic polish with a grey blue undertone. Another wonderful formula, it applies opaquely in two coats.
Rescue Beauty Lounge - An Accidental Interloper

This collection and my color of course, is a huge landmark for my life and my blogging career. I had never expected to be included with such an impressive and talented group of women and I am very thankful. I know that these colors will probably be worn by people all over the world and that just blows my mind. For someone to whom color and nail polish is so important and such a big part of life, this means the world to me. Thank you Ji and Rescue Beauty Lounge for letting me take this ride with you.

This collection will be available for pre-order on June 28th at 12 pm EST for 48 hours on for $20 each.

GlitterDaze - American Royalty

Hi everyone! I'm back today with a brand new polish from indie brand lacquer GlitterDaze called American Royalty. This sample is in their new design of mini bottle, 4 mL vertical instead of their previous shorter fatter mini bottle. American Royalty is being released just in time for Fourth of July celebrations for all you American polish lovers!

GlitterDaze - American Royalty

American Royalty is a baby blue creamy base with a firework burst of different glitters in red, white, gold and blue. There are round, string, stars and square pieces in there that equal a veritable explosion of excitement! The polish goes on smooth and easy with only a few of the glitters popping out in a contrary place here and there. Two coats make this polish nicely opaque. A layer of topcoat makes it nice and level and glossy.
GlitterDaze - American Royalty

You can buy this and other GlitterDaze nail polishes from their website Their 4mL minis are $4 and their full size 15 mL bottles are $11 each. What do you think of this lovely polish? I know what I'll be wearing on my fingertips at those Fourth of July barbeques this year!

BB Couture Finishers Collection Swatches & Review

BB Couture has a new collection out called the Finishers. They are top coat type polishes designed to give a little bit of color/shimmer to bare nails or change the look of a polish if layered over the top of them. They are in BB's square bottles, their For Men polish line, but of course can be used and enjoyed by all.

First is Antique Grey Finish, a taupey brown grey jelly with some gold shimmer. This is three coats. I love this even on it's own. It's beautiful and the name totally fits it. It really glows!

This is Beige Glaze, a super whisper fine light shimmer with a slight hint of beige color. This one is definitely more of a layering polish but if you wanted a super simple look it would fit the bill. I love how this polish transforms other colors when layered, it's really a fun one to play with. Two coats here.

Green Gloss Coating is a yummy greyed avocado green translucent shade with threads of beautiful gold shimmer. This is another one that looks right at home on my nails by itself, but also works fabulously as a top coat "finisher" to add a hint of green to any polish. Three coats.

Metalized Sealant is a sensational silvery angel dust shimmery top coat. You can use one coat to give a hint of heavenly glimmer or build up the coats for a beautiful blingy look. This is three coats.

Perhaps my favorite of the bunch is Radiation Blue Glare, a sky blue pale jelly with bits of flake-type silvery white glitter. I love the blue wash this gives my nails on its own, and over other colors it ads that extra dimension that can totally metamorphose a color. Three coats.

And last of the collection is Suntan Shimmer. This color is a pale sandy coral bronzey frosty shade that is totally a stand-alone color in addition to being a fun "finisher". It's a color I wouldn't have picked off a shelf in a store, but I really like how it looks on me. Three coats.

Here are the colors over a black creme base color, two coats each, from left to right: Radiation Blue Glare, Antique Grey Finish, Metalized Sealant, and Beige Glaze.

And again, in the opposite order, of course.

And here is the other two polishes over the same black creme, three coats each, left to right: Suntan Shimmer, Green Gloss Coating.

And again, Green Gloss Coating and Suntan Shimmer.

What do you think of these subtle colors? I love them over black and can't wait to try them more shades to see what fun and exciting combinations I can come up with. You can get these all from BB Couture's website for $10.95 each.

Picture Polish - Paradise by Liquid Jelly

Hi everyone! Long time no blog :( I got a promotion at work and things have been quite busy for me lately. I apologize for my absence and hope to be back at full speed very soon! Now let's get to some NAIL POLISH!!

This is one of my favorite new paints that I have acquired recently. It's a collaborative color from Picture Polish with Aussie blogger Liquid Jelly. If you haven't heard of her blog, you should check it out because she's awesome. This color called Paradise is truly spectacular and one of those that you can't appreciate the full beauty of until you see it in person. It's a jewel toned teal blue foil with green iridescence, pink sparkles, pink hex glitters, and holo sparkle bits.

The formula on this is quite nice, smooth with a slight texture when dry. The color payoff is like WOW. Mega blingy and quite stunning. This is three thin coats. You can buy Paradise online at Picture Polish's Australian-based website for AUS $12, from Canadian-based website Harlow & Co for $14.50, and US-based website Llarowe for $14.50.
