Lippmann Supermodel

Hey everyone! It's been a crazy month *whew* I cannot believe that 2010 is almost over! I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off lately, and I just came back from a nice vacation to visit my family. A much needed rest! I did get the stomach flu while I was there though YUCK! but oh well I'm much better now and back in my own house all rested up. How was your holidays my dears? I have to say I feel very blessed this year, not because of the stuff I got haha, but because of my family and friends that I got to be around. *smooshes you all in a big cheesy hug*

This is a really pretty nail polish that I have been really hooked on lately, probably because of my tiny nails right now haha. It's called Supermodel by Deborah Lippmann. It was created with Dree Hemingway, the famous supermodel, hence the name ;)

It is a bright chili pepper red jelly with a tinge of orange in there. Unlink some jelly polishes, this one is super easy to apply and looks flawless in two coats! There will be some visible nail line for you ladies with the longer talons but on my tiny nubbins, it works out perfectly!
The flash picture shows it a bit more red than it is in real life, but oooh look at that shine! This swatch is without a topcoat, by the way :) Of course, being the fudgy-fingers that I am, I had to put one on eventually haha.  I hope to be blogging again regularly so wish me luck, I have a brand new collection from BB Couture, two polishes from Glitter Gal, some DOPE frankens from my girl Ange, and some new Illamasqua polishes to show you soon soon!

Liquid Palisade

Hi folks! Glad to be back fully in mind, body, and spirit after this hell-acious final semester of my college career. It's been an absolute rat race! Basically I've been running ragged for the last four months. And now it's over! So glad :)

I wanted to share with you today a product that has been getting a lot of buzz lately, a brand new item called Liquid Palisade. It's made by a company called Kiesque based in Chicago. It is toted as a product that makes lots of types of nail art, including frenchies and half-moons, and even a flawless manicure, into an easy task.
Basically, it's a liquid barrier that you paint on your nails/cuticles wherever you don't want nail polish to go. It comes out of the tube light lavender and then dries in a few seconds to a darker purple. You simply paint your nail and then wait a few seconds and then peel the LP strip off. You should be left with a clean edge and no paint where you had the LP.
I personally had a little bit of trouble with this product at first, it has a learning curve that is for sure. However, when I got the hang of it, it took almost no effort. I really like this idea, I positively squealed when I first heard of the concept. I don't think I'll be using this in my everyday manicures, it adds a step that I don't especially need, but when I want to add a french tip or half moon, you bet I'll be reaching for this stuff! This would be a great product for those of you out there who feel like your wobbly hands never give you a perfect manicure.
Some people have likened it to the stickers that you can buy at the drugstore, in the curve shape. The basic idea is very similar, but I think this is easier and more versatile. You can purchase Liquid Palisade for $22 at Kiesque's website.

Please visit my friend Asami's blog, Nails by Asami, where she gives a great video tutorial on how to use LP step by step.

sweet sweet tunes

I saw these sexy hawt fellas in concert and it was so damn good it was retarded really awesome. The only downside is that the dress code apparently dictated that concert-goers must have a beard and smell bad. It was worth it.

$OPI Havana Nights cont'd

*hangs head in shame* I'm a bad, bad blogger. I have been so haphazard in posting my swatches from this collection. The back log of swatches I need to post is really getting ridiculous. These three polishes are from the Sephora by OPI Havana Nights collection. I've previously shown you Havana Dreams and Mambo Madness. I still need to get my swatches of Read My Palm up, though I think they're on a flash drive somewhere...Anyway :) here we go!

Teal We Meet Again is a really unbelievable color. I was really excited for it when I first saw promo images for the collection but was seriously blown away by it in person. A very blue teal, with dark sea green underpinnings. Super shimmery and it plays with your eyes, I just want to swim in the depths of this color! This is two coats.
Can I just tell you how much I love how my nails look in these photos (length and shape) and at the same time cannot figure out what is going on with my hand placement?! I guess long nails make me a dummy dumb who can't hold a polish bottle without looking "special".

Caliente Coral is another one I really love from this collection (I actually think I adore all the shades in Havana Nights, except Caribbean Cocktail which I didn't get.) It's more orange per say, than coral. Very easily applied and really POPS against my skin tone. Two coats!
Rumba Romance was the one I wasn't sure I was going to love when I bought the mini set, but turns out I really enjoy it. It's a gold brass, almost foil polish, more on the microglitter side. This color would probably have a hard time finding a good home, however, unless you have a darker skin tone. I think it looks nice on me, but if I were one shade paler, it might look pretty horrendous. This is three coats.
I have some trouble photographing my nails in anything other than sunlight with my new camera, and I think I have built up my old camera on a sort of pedestal, thinking it was the best camera ever and nothing will ever come close to it.  Well, apparently it wasn't that great, because (soooo sorry!) these photos kinda blow.  I'm thinking I might purge most of my backlog and just go on a swatch-fest and redo them all.  Cuz...damn these are crap :P

Glitter Gal Bling Lipgloss

Glitter Gal is an Australian cosmetics brand that has some awesome goodies. I showed you some of their 3D holographic nail polishes a while ago and a lucky winner even got two polishes of her own from a contest I did with them. I cannot tell you how great their customer service is, they really go the extra mile!

I recently got the opportunity to review one of their new "Bling" items, a long-wearing lipgloss. Can I just tell you that I think they are to-die-for cute?? Look at that pretty bedazzled cap! I am soooo into the rhinestones, they really give the packaging a kick.
The gloss is called Princess, and is a lovely sheer pink color with dazzling silver shimmer. It contains Vitamin A and E and Aloe Vera to hydrate your lips. I don't wear a lot of lip products, I'm usually set with chap stick or a nice balm. When I put this baby on, though, I realized what I'm missing. My lips seriously looked gorgeous, but not "done". I was worried that they would feel sticky, but they didn't at all. Plus the gloss lasted forever! I only reapplied once in the 8+ hours I wore it! I got some compliments on my lips too, which never happens haha.
The Bling lipglosses come in 4 colors, this pink Princess, sheer diamond Bedazzled, rose Goddess, and Ruby Red. They sell for $14.95 on Glitter Gal's website.

AKA Franken: Inception

I am such a bum! Seriously, I hate not posting every day and I feel crummy leaving you hanging for so long without a genuine post. It's the end of the semester for my university career, the last one EVER before I earn my degree. WOW. It's pretty crazy to say that. I have worked a looong time to earn this Bachelor's degree and I am gonna cherish it :)

This is a little baby franken I made, to wear on my nubby nubbins. I can't stand it when my nails are different lengths, so when one breaks or tears, I have to cut them all down :/ I made this out of the Revlon paradoxal dupe, called Perplex. I have wanted a holo color like this forever, so I decided to make my own. I added some of China Glaze's OMG, but not wanting to run out haha I also put in some OPI DS Shimmer. I tried to add flakies, which would make this even more epic, from CND's Sugar Sparkle, but they all fell to the bottom :P Oh well, this is my creation; I named it Inception! (p.s. if you haven't seen that movie, you need to seriously RUN and get it! It's in my top 5 of all time!)

Will be back to posting regularly soon soon :)

*P.S.  You may notice that I have discontinued using "Intense Debate" as my commenting system.  It just has too many bugs and makes my site run slower.  Unfortunately, this has made me lose ALL of my old comments from all of my cherished readers :(  This makes me epically sad and believe me, I wrote a very strongly-worded email to the ID people.  Hopefully they will find a way to fix this soon.  I am planning on writing back on the previous posts, answering questions, etc. but they will be on the blogger system.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

CND Sweet and Sugar Sparkle

Ooooh I'm still so excited that I have these two polishes that I can hardly stand it! CND puts out limited edition sets sometimes and this spring they did a polish and effects set called "The Look" Sweet and Sugar Sparkle. I missed out on them while they were "in season" and alas thought I was doomed to roam the earth forever wanting. Then my fab friend Miss PolishPauper said she'd love to swap them with me and I positively JUMPED at the chance! Thanks again sweetie :)
Sweet is a gorgeous pink crème, bright and cheerful, warm toned. I wore it in two coats.  It was surprisingly a slightly streaky versus the other CND colors I've worn before, unfortunately.  But the color is really flattering; I like my pinks :)
On to the shining star of the mani, Sugar Sparkle! This "effects" topcoat is a clear base swimming with silvery/white/clear flakes that are irregularly shaped and look almost like shattered ice. It really is what I see in my mind's eye when I hear the words "sugar sparkle". This is only one coat of SS over Sweet, maybe I'll do two or three next time to really pump up the bling :)  The sparkle chunks did dry a bit...hmm...flatter (?) than I expected, but oh well, it still dazzles!!
I can't wait to see what CND comes out with next. Their "Night Factory" set that came out this fall (teal sparkle and urban oasis) was uber sexi! I didn't get their silver and gold sparkling glitter topcoats for the winter, but I've heard great things about them. I am crossing my fingers for more fab-u-lous effects, they make my heart go pitty-pat!

Broadway Fashion Diva Chrome Nails

Have you heard of Minx? The hip nail design sensation that has been flashed all over the media, from celebrities to us regular folk. Basically it's a flexible film that adheres to the nail by way of heat, applied by a nail technician in a salon. Their designs are practically limitless and many other companies have taken note of this idea and put a spin on the product so the average woman can get her tips to look as perfect as a professionally applied set of Minx.

Their most popular "design" would probably be their mirror-like gold nails, as seen on singers Beyoncé and Katy Perry. I would RAWK those gold suckers, as you know I la la love my gold! However a sister design, this time in silver is also making it's way around the runways.

*Sigh* what's a girl to do if she doesn't have access to a salon that applies Minx Nails? Or more likely, what if a trendsetting diva just doesn't want to fork over the money that a set would put her back? Well you can imagine my surprised and astonishment when I found out Broadway Nails sells a super awesome set of false nails that have the mirror-like silver/chrome look, for loads less moola!
This pack of Fashion Diva nails comes with 24 nails, both in plain chrome and zebra print chrome. And there are 12 sizes, so you can best fit the tips to your nails. The box is about $5.99, and you definitely know I'm going to get their worth--my nails are unhappy nubbins right now, so I will totally be rocking these for a while until they grow out some. These are "medium" length, but seem a bit long for me. No worries, though, as you can always clip or file them w/o damage. They're supposed to last for 7 days, I hope it's true, because chiiiillllddd these are some fierce talons!
KellieGonzo: Broadway Fashon Diva Chrome Nails
I am impressed with these so far, because they are very comfortable, unlike some other false nails I've tried.  They're very light and easy to apply and I did not have any trouble fitting them to my nail beds.
KellieGonzo: Broadway Fashon Diva Chrome Nails
Would you ever wear these or something similar? I would love them even more if they came in gold! There are lots of different designs from Broadway right now, available in your local CVS, Kmart, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid, and online at www.beautyonlinesupply.com.

Misa Spark My Heart That's a Start

Misa is a brand that I'm not too familiar with.  None of my local stores sell them, and it's safe to say that I've never bought one of their polishes on their website or even really heard anything about them!  However another blogger, miss Lacquerized, featured their winter collection, I knew it was about time I invest in some.  I now have five Misa polishes and I absolutely LA LA LOVE THEM!  The bottle design is totally my style, square and chunky, and the brush handle is long but the brush end is nicely tapered.  I found the formula on all of the polishes I bought (either from Head2Toe or on a blog sale) to be seriously excellent.

This number is called Spark My Heart That's a Start, from the Spark My Interest collection.  It's a fabulous electric coral red metallic with a bang of pink flash.  Unlike any other polish I have and it wears really well!  I really can't get over the formula, tho seriously.  It really glided on my tips and stayed put for four days sans chips!  This is two coats.

Do you own any Misa polishes?  I wish they were more out then when it came to advertising and it would be cool if they were available in salons and stuff.

China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic

The China Glaze Rodeo Diva collection is by FAR my favorite collection from them. It is full of gorgeous blackened jewel toned colors and a few shimmery browns. Très chic! I've been slowly but surely acquiring all the shades from the collection and I have finally done it! Rodeo Fanatic was the last polish I needed and I just got it in a swap, woo hoo!!

Rodeo Fanatic is a blackened bright teal blue with mega shimmer. The bottles shows a dope purple duochrome, but it doesn't transfer to my pictures :P It is definitely more faint on the nail than in the bottle but it still pops out every once in a while. If you are a blue nail polish lover, you DEFINITELY need to pick up this baby! This is two coats.

Revlon Ruby Ribbon

Revlon put out Ruby Ribbon in their holiday display this year; a matte ruby red with some shimmer. The shimmer is similar to OPI's Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow that I just showed you, perhaps a little heavier. The color is beautiful, albeit darker than it looks in the bottle. These "satin" finish mattes are way easier to apply than the chalky matte polishes, and that's just fine with me :) Even if they take a smidge longer to dry than most mattes. This is two coats.
