i'm his coral-friend

i dunno about you kids but i'm not much of a fan when it comes to punctuation in nail polish names. gets too complicated. anyway, this gooooorgeous coral is called i'm his coral-friend and is a part of the summer '08 sunbelievable by opi collection. i totally la la love it and know i will be wearing this baby more than just during the summer months. it just screams look at me. super bright and just pretty! two coats, a little bit of VNL, but it was cool with me. i'm not sure if this is supposed to be a creme or a jelly, it may be a hybrid which is cool. i got a ton of compliments on this guy, and who doesn't love that?! leans a bit more to the red side of orange but still a coral. oooh j'adore :)hope everyone's week is shaping up well ♥

i'm ok, you're bouquet

i really like pinks. i'm guilty. it's lame i know, haha. but i do! corals are really my guilty pleasure but pinks are pretty close. this pink is so cute and i found it in a discount bin in trade secret so i snatched it up of course of course. a pretty lavender tinted pastelish pink creme from opi, i'm ok, you're bouquet suggests this pink to be perfect for weddings. which i dare to say it would be. i put some old GAP brand silver chunky glitter i had in the corners, attempting to do a cascading look. and on the thumb i used white acrylic paint to do a simple bow, using the same sort of technique i mentioned in the gussied up green post, i've just added ribbon to the end and flattened it out a bit. i thought i did ok with it actually, but trying to do it on my right hand was a different story haha and a definite fail though, so i need to keep practicing!
i hope everyone had a great weekend! i had an amazing time shopping with the sister, so you'll be seeing some haul photos soon!!

gussied up green

i love greens, as most of the nail bloggers do. idk why? i guess it's just a commonality we share for some reason. i for one blame ZULU! haha, anyway one of my new favorite greens has got to be this one, china glaze's gussied up green from the rodeo diva collection. sooo pretty!!! it's a dark emerald that shimmers as if it's life depended on it. the polish just doesn't quit! i compare it a bit to sally hansen's insta dri jumpin' jasper but this is warmer. this is two coats with seche on top. and i took pictures without cleaning my cuticles first can you believe it?! oh the horror.i put some deco flowers on the ring and thumb nails, using a technique i've seen on a few youtube vids (namely julieg713) using opi's DS design.also i didn't walk around with this but i tried a bow using the same type of technique as the flowers (see it HERE by Naritaz) on my pinky nail using opi's i'm ok, you're bouquet just to see if it would turn out or not. and it looks ok, but it was just for practice, so i thought i'd show ya!
anyway, my posts might get spaced a little further in between since my classes have started up again, but i will keep posting nevertheless :) so stick with me k my dears ♥ ya!

prince charming pinstriped

this look was a fun one and i really loved wearing it. i borrowed all the polishes so i don't have pics of the bottles unfortunately tho. the main color is prince charming by orly, part of the once upon a time collection. it is a pretty creme chocolate brown color, which i didn't think i would like that much actually with my skin tone. (more on that later) the stripes are done with art club (?) or art deco or something nail art brushes in standard white and black. there are possibly different names for them but like i said, i borrowed them so i can't remember.

the first shots are with seche as a topper. now i like this look alright, but meh, i didn't think it was anything special. and i actually only did the stripes on the sides because i messed up and peeled some off my right thumbnail on the side and i didn't want to paint it over, so i decided to decorate them instead.but when i got home i put on a coat of essie's matte about you matte-maker top coat to try it out (new purchase!) and WOW it absolutely transformed this mani for me! idk about you but after it went matte, it went PHAT haha. the topcoat lightened the brown a bit which made the polish suit my coloring much better i think. it also like flattened and blended the polishes all together into a satin-y way and i just absolutely loved it. what do you guys think??
mmm i just went to texas roadhouse for dinner with some friends and i am STUFFED to the brim with yummy rolls and delicious mashed potatoes and new york strip steak. so i'm gonna sluff off and get some sleep! i start fall semester tomorrow (YIKES!) and its finally all psychology classes!! yayay no more math :D wish me luck and i hope everyone is having a lovely week so far.

shivon & kalista

so my camera is being whack-tastic and half my pictures have turned out blurry lately. these are the only ones of these notd's that survived :(

zoya shivon (on my CHOPPED nails) is sooo gorgeous i kept shoving my fingers in people's faces all day long to get them to stare at the beauty haha. i don't even know how to describe it! kind of a berry color with sun-tinged purple? haha i suck at this. anyway tons of goldish purple shimmer running through it so it looks almost totally gold at certain angles. LOVED IT! this was my first encounter with zoyas (as with zara in a previous post) and they take some getting used to for sure. shivon was the easiest to apply out of the three i got.zoya kalista was SOOO gorgeous, a dark rich shimmery brown red (which looks way more red in this picture (sorry, dumb camera!!) that flowed perfectly...on my left hand only. my right hand was a big fat fail for some reason. i redid that hand like 5 times. idk why. but these pics are of my beautifully polished left hand haha, so enjoy. the zoya formula is a little thick but their color range is so pretty pretty i might just forgive them.

hope everyone went and had some fun this weekend. i slept, cleaned, did laundry and went to a few movies. um, i have to do this sorry. i have to plug quentin tarantino's new movie "inglorious basterds". it's just amazing. i don't think many people are into that sort of thing, but if you are a tarantino fan you will love it. i was aMAAAAZED at how good it was. god i wish it was a true story! it was truly written well, and the actors all did their roles ultimate justice. even the "no-name" actors who had smaller parts did so well. i just can't say enough about it. yes, there is gore and death and violence and sadness and misery but there is also humor and vengeance and victory and pride. anyway, au revoir my dear lovelies!

fun photo vote

hellooo dear blog readers! so i've mentioned a few times before that my lovely older sister Clarrisa works for a cosmetics/nutrition/skincare multilevel marketing company called NuSkin that is based here in Utah but is spread throughout the world (they're big in asia and europe). i love their nail polish, but sadly it is discontinued, but i do swatches from time to time. anyway, they have a product out right now called the Galvanic Spa used with ageLOC gels that does a lot of fancy science stuff to your face that makes your skin amazing and i guess does this thing to stop free radicals and junk from making you age...i think haha. anyway it's dope and i love it. it's pretty much amazing and i do it like once a week at least, you can also use different gels for your body for slimming and toning and even on your scalp for hair growth.
welll....the POINT is that my sister's team is doing an ageLOC Mother/Daughter or Sisters "Best Shot" photo contest on the nuskin website and you can go there and take a look at pictures of people who use the system and vote for the best pair. it's pretty cool and fun to see the mothers & daughters who look like they could be sisters :) i hope with the help of ageLOC gels i'll be lookin that good when i get old!! so if you'd like to, visit the link HERE and vote for the best one. i know me & my sister would appreciate it! (p.s. we're not on there anywhere haha, so don't worry about looking for me!)

sally girl periwinkle

i always thought of the color periwinkle as more purple, not so blue, but this little sally girl periwinkle polish is definitely more blue. it is a pastel creme and very opaque, almost so in one coat. this is three, just because i kept getting streaks due to the goopy thickness. unfortunate but what do you expect for a cheapy 99 cent guy? this sort of reminds me of china glaze moody blue but more on the white creamy side. i was looking for a shade like this so i'm ok with it for sure until i can get my hands on moody blue or bikini bottom.not to try and sneak one past all you smartys, but this mani was also before i encountered the big break of august '09 (a.k.a. my dramatic nail shortening). i'm making a big deal about it because it's the first time one of my nails has broken since i got really into the polish thing back around may. excuse my sensationalism please ;)

sit under the apple tree

this ultra light shimmery limey/appley green is a part of opi's retro fun in the sun collection. sit under the apple tree was my pick for a light green that day while i was out shopping; i chose this out of hey! get in lime! and gargantuan green grape. i see now that they are obviously nothing alike DUH haha and i still want the other ones haha or at least one of them. which do you guys like for light greens?

i do like this a lot, it complimented my tan haha. it really shines the best out in the sun tho. indoors it looks a little lacking. there are bald patches/streaks if you look close too, blah blah haha but i do like it alright. and yes this was also a notd before i chopped them down :)

daddy's girl & lunch at the delhi

this sinful colors polish looked delightful in the bottle and i wasn't disappointed when i swatched it on my (still long at the time) tips. a borrowed polish from my dear bestie mickelle, daddy's girl is a lovely purple (i promise it is purple, even tho my camera turns it kinda blue) jellyish shade with dark purple crystaly glitter. it wasn't hard to get off at all, which is surprising. this is two coats, no topcoat. i like it but i'm not sure if i would wear it all that often :)
the second polish i borrowed from miss m to swatch was lunch at the delhi from opi's india collection. i love me the orangey coral's and this was sooo creamy and sweet :) two coats, could've gotten away with one i swear! ♥ please excuse my wonky ring finger nail, as this is my right hand and it's the finger i lean my pencil against when i write ;)hope you are all having a terrific tuesday!

zoya zara & my special package

awww my dear zoyas how i love them so! i think they absolutely have the best color range of any polish. the formula is pretty good, a little thicker on this first one i'm showing, zara. the lovely lavender/purple is ga ga gorgeous and it has tons of golden shimmer in it and flashes bronzey and sandy in certain lights. i've heard people describe this as a slight jelly but the jury is still out for me. it was the harder out of the three zoyas i have to apply but i just love it soooo!also to shake it up a bit, i added some nail art today (second day) inspired by the diva's polish's post who posted because she was inspired by a tutorial she saw on youtube. (check out her blog it's great!) i obviously didn't do the tips but put the stripes and dots on using white kiss brush on nail art paint. i also used color club's crystal glitter art club nail art brush to do stripes in between the white stripes. and i even accomplished the look on my right hand, which i couldn't believe. it's definitely not my usual look, but it was fun to do and that is all that matters yes?also waiting for me on saturday was a package from mary of body and soul. i won one of the two packs she was giving away in july YAY!! and i was super super super impressed with the gift. can't wait to try these out! :)hope everyone had a great weekend :) i had fun hanging out with my sister and nephew who came into town for a mini-break. byeeee♥

nude beach glitz

this post should've been done before the previous post technically, because i wore it before i broke my nail. so don't get confused as my nails in these pics are still long and glorious *sob*.

the base is essie's nude beach which is a great sparkly crystaly nude/white/slightly pink that you can wear super sheer or build to bottle color. this is 4 coats i believe. it looked a little plain and i needed a little more drama that day so i topped the tips with wet n' wild craze glitz glitter. it was super easy to do the tips, two coats. (i used seche in between the base and the tips.)
la la love you ladies! hope you all have a wonderful friday ♥

my free zoyas are here!!

oh JOY today has been just about awful-awful as can be, but my entire life perked up when i got home and saw that my free zoya polishes had arrived!! i don't have time tonight to swatch them but i included a bottle shot to show you their hottness. i dunno why i'm so excited about these guys, haha maybe because idk when i would've ever ordered them on my own (i don't know anywhere to buy them in a store). so it was a really cool thing for zoya to do for everyone to try out their polish line giving us that giveaway code from twitter.
kalista, shivon, zara

oh p.s. i broke a nail today rearranging/cleaning my room. so i'll be doing some chopping tonight. another reason that i will not be able to swatch my new babies tonight. grrrr!!!!!!!

passion

opi's passion nail polish really should be named "tender" or something like that because it's just so sweet! very milky and almost real nail color which is what i was hoping for. of course, these very light sheer types are always going to look a bit streaky up close but no one but yourself can ever tell. i tell you gals i wanted to wear this for daysss and that is so rare for me . idk why but i've been gravitating toward the more pinky/sheer colors these days. maybe because i'm so sick of my cuticles getting dyed every time i remove my polish? haha don't worry it's only a phase all you anti-pink ladies ;) this is two coats and no top coat.
