Bring It Back 2012 - Rescue Beauty Lounge

It's that time again! Rescue Beauty Lounge Bring It Back! Read all about the event here: http://blog.rescuebeauty.com/happy-holiday-in-may/. The tentative date for their sale is 11/2, but that may change due to the huge storm that's hitting the east coast right now. Here are the ones coming back that I have :)

Aqua Lily is pretty much unbelievably beautiful. The most recent retiree to be welcomed back into the RBL catalog of available lacquers. She's from the inaugural fan collection that debuted at the beginning of this year. Hot turquoise with killer pink shimmer. Like the glistening lagoon water of a fantasy island lagoon.

This is Starfish Patrick. Truly an essential polish in my collection. This is from the Spongebob collection that came out in 2008. I don't know how many times it's been brought back to life but I'm just as in love with it now as I was when I first saw it. Deliciously smooth light creamsicle orange milky jelly. Le sigh.

And the other BiB polish I have in my possession is Pui Mosso. This guy is from the Firebird collection, the first collection I had the privilege of reviewing for RBL. Luxe mysterious dark navy with a tinge of purple and a generous glaze of reddish copper shimmer.

The entire line up that will be available for purchase: Recycle, Opaque Nude, Starfish Patrick, Insouciant, Pui Mosso, and Aqua Lily! I hope to bring you the swatches for the others soon. Until the sale date, again set tentatively for Nov. 2, I would urge you to sign up for Rescue Beauty Lounge email newsletters in order to be alerted as soon as possible when they are back. Any of those in particular you are looking forward to picking up? Personally I can't WAIT until I see Insouciant in person. I'm kind of obsessed with it!

Butter London - Two Fingered Salute

Nordstrom has a trio of exclusive lacquers from Butter London out right now and today I'm going to show you my pick from the three. Two Fingered Salute is one of the hottest polishes on the market right now, it has been sold out online and even in stores all over. I finally was able to order it a few weeks ago and it just shipped :) Side note: I honestly hate how Nordstrom packages their shipments though, I've ordered one or two cosmetics from them a few times and they always arrive in a medium to LARGE box that weighs about an ounce because it's that one thing and packing paper. It's wasteful and makes me mad. But it must not make me so mad that I've stopped ordering from them...

Two Fingered Salute is a dusty mint green with gazillions of irregularly shaped copper flecks that gleam dusty pink in the sunshine. I FREAKING love this polish! This is basically Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon, only a little lighter and with more pronounced shimmer. I always adore the BL formula too, two coats on this one. Ga-ga-gorgeous!

How do you like this guy? I am in love. You can look for this at your local Nordstrom store or online at nordstrom.com for $14.

OPI Pink of Hearts 2012

OPI has released a duo pack of nail polishes in support of Breast Cancer Awareness called Pink of Hearts 2012. They will donate $25,000  in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. They will also donate $5,000 to Rethink Breast Cancer in Canada. I of course support this cause and am happy to bring this post to you highlighting the cause and these promotional polishes.

This is I Think In Pink. This is a sheerish milky pale pink jelly crème hybrid that has a ridiculous shine. This is three coats. This is quintessentially girly and I love it. Great formula.

The second polish in the pack is called You Glitter Be Good to Me, a cool pale pink small sequin glitter with lots of larger pinky purple hexes. It's a nice polish to layer with, seen here as one coat over I Think In Pink.

I really prefer it by itself layered to opacity. It's a beautiful blingy glitter bomb and the larger glitter pieces blend better into the base. When it's more sparse your eye goes to them immediately and this way both types of glitter really compliment each other rather than compete. This is three coats.

The Pink of Hearts 2012 duo pack will be available September and October 2012 at  Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure  Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail.  For more information, please call 800-341-9999 or visit www.opi.com.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam - Flower Child

I have another indie polish today. This one comes from Whimsical Ideas by Pam. She only sells her polish via her FB page, well via email really. This comes from her second "collection" of polishes that she put out not too long ago, called Flower Child.

The base is a lovely opaque lavender jelly crème hybrid and the glitter is varying sizes of pinky magenta hexes and purple speckles. Great formula, only needed two coats. I wasn't expecting this to be as opaque as it was, which is a huge plus. (The first picture was taken in a little darker light than the second, which is closer to being true-to-life color accurate.)

You can visit Pam's FB page to see all her polishes and for instructions on how to order. They are $10 a piece so I wanted to really fall in love with one of them before I took the plunge and bought one. The market is so saturated with indie polishes lately that I can afford to be picky. And honestly you kind of have to be, I've had many bad experiences with homemade polishes. Pam seems very legit and I definitely can recommend this polish, it's top shelf.

Three Indie Glitters

I've written a previous post about D & R Apothecary nail polish, but they've since changed their business a little and the new name of their glitter polish line is called Hit Polish. They also used to sell bath & body products like soap and lip balm but they've had more success with polish so that's what they're concentrating on now.

This is a mini polish I got from their new line called Antique Rose. It's a perfect fall glitter, in shades of rose gold, copper, green, and gold glitter pieces in large and small hexes and squares. I topped Rescue Beauty Lounge's Moulin Rouge with two coats of Antique Rose. I'm head over heels with this combo. It's MUCH better in person, but this is the best I could do to show you it's beauty.
Shade

Here is a polish from back when they were just D & R Apothecary, called Blaze. It is packed full of orange mini hexes, small orange hex, large red hex and golden yellow bars. I actually really hate this photo because it makes the layering combo I used look STUPID. This is American Apparel Manhattan Beach with two coats of Blaze. Honestly I looked at this in the sun and hated it. I thought it needed a totally different type of base color for layering. It looks like the damn plague or something.

However when I turned to go inside and saw the combo in the shade and swooned. Manhattan Beach looks much less bright when not in direct sunlight, making the pair look much more compatible. I love this now, although when I wear it I need to remember not to be in the sun too much ;) The bar glitter really taco'd on this unfortunately.

This one is called Patina. Which is one of my favorite names. I also happen to adore the MAC eyeshadow called Patina. So naturally I figured I would love this polish. Copper glitters, brown glitters and aqua/turquoise glitters all in fine, small, medium and large sizes. I layered it over OPI Berlin There, Done That from the Germany collection. LOVE this.

You can get Hit Polishes from their website http://www.hitpolish.com/ or on their Etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/HitPolish. She is having a sale right now, 20% off mini sized polishes. If you've been on the fence about trying them, now would be a good time :)

Two Lacquers from China Glaze's New Bohemian collection

Howdy friends :) Today I have two of the nail polishes from China Glaze's New Bohemian collection that came out this summer. The collection is made up of six "luster chrome" lacquers. I guess that's a fancy way of saying duochromes. These were sent for review but I would've probably chosen these two to get even if I picked them up myself.

First is Swanky Silk a rich luxe pinky gold peach duochrome. I have seen a few dupes of this one that came out around the same time, such as Deborah Lippmann's Sugar Daddy. Though I can't speak to those, I can say that this polish has a fabulous formula and an amazing color. I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I do. I have worn this twice since I've gotten it, which says a LOT. This is two coats. I included a photo in the shade so you see the duo color a bit more.

Shade

Next is Deviantly Daring, a uber lush blue teal greeny duochrome. This one was more brush-strokey in application and they don't disappear but it's not a terrible thing, a lot of metallics have that type of finish. This one is brilliantly saturated and a lovely color, but it is not super duochromey like I expected. This is two coats.

What do you think of these two polishes? Did you get any of the shades from the New Bohemian collection from China Glaze? I love me some duochrominess so these two are right at home in my collection. You can buy China Glaze polishes from your local Sally Beauty Supply store or online at various e-tailers.

Look Who's Back! Rescue Beauty Lounge Fall 2012

Hi folks! I am happy to announce the triumphant return of Rescue Beauty Lounge base collection colors Coral, Moulin Rouge, and Grunge! I have wanted these colors since I first became a polish fan and put off getting them until, sadly they were out of stock. The outage unfortunately lasted for a long time. But now they are back! Be sure and learn from my past mistake and grab yours now while you can!

First is Coral, one of my biggest lemmings ever. It is a perfect bright mango pinky coral. Quintessentially happy and fun. As Ji says, this isn't your grandma's coral! Uber fantastic formula, jelly crème buttery goodness. Two coats. Please forgive my slight tip wear, I had to put this on immediately after I got it and wasn't able to get a photo until a few days after. I have a feeling this will be my new go-to pedicure color!

Grunge is a really amazing color. In the realm of a band-aid but better color for my skin tone, but slightly greyer with a subtle pink shimmer glaze. Excellent as a palate cleanser color and lady-like enough to wear in a formal office setting, with just a hint of, well, grunge! Two coats.

This is Moulin Rouge, a red wine crème sultry lady. Oxblood is a super hot trend right now and this is the definition of it. Buttery and shiny with a fab color payoff. It can look more brown in different lights and lights up vampy red in others. Two coats.

You can pick these up on RescueBeauty.com now for $20 each. It'll be the best decision you make all day ;)
