Moon Shine Mani Holiday 2016 Elfing Around Collection Swatches & Review

Hi folks! Today I'm excited to show you a new collection from a brand new indie brand, Moon Shine Mani by my friend Phoebe Moon! I've been following Phoebe's YouTube channel for a long time, a few years now maybe? She vlogs about nail polish and does a ton of live application videos, which I am a huge fan of. Her new brand is launching today with a holiday collection inspired by the movie Elf and I'm so pleased to help introduce her exciting endeavor to the blog-o-sphere! My friend Paola and I are posting about this on the same day, so please visit her blog to read her thoughts on the collection. Let's jump in!

Very Purpley is a dusty purple with intense pale gold shimmer. This is a beautiful shade, kind of the exact shade I imagine when I think of Phoebe! Glides on the nail and opaque in almost one coat. I used two here. A shimmer this heavy can be prone to brushstrokes but I don't mind them.

Swirly Twirly Gumdrops is a mid-tone turquoise holographic. Really nice to apply and covers in almost one coat. I used two here for 100% coverage.

Jovie is a cool toned red-orange holographic. Excellent formula, a little thick but in a good way. This is opaque in one coat but I used two here. This is named for the female love interest in the movie, the inimitable Zooey Deschanel, everyone's favorite manic pixie dreamgirl!

Buddy the Elf is a metallic green with gold micro flakes mixed in. This is a mega metallic, the kind that can get a touch goopy if you use too heavy of a coat. I recommend two thin layers. This is really the perfect shade for the character of Buddy!

The Naughty List is a blackened plum with a greyed twist in a holographic finish. This was thinner than the other formulas, and just a touch on the runny side for me. I used two coats for opacity here.

Smiling's My Favorite is a warm antique gold metallic with added glints of scattered holographic particles. This is crazy, I can't even describe the consistency of this, but to me it looked like micro pigment spheres of gold, melding onto itself to form a velvet network of color. Maybe I'm crazy, but regardless it's pretty neat. This took two coats to be opaque.

The bottle shape of these is a little different and I noticed the labels were a little ill fitting, but Phoebe is fixing this by putting the labels on the handles from now on, they were just on the glass part of the bottles for the pr samples. The brush shape is medium-wide and a little flat, very nice for application.

Do you watch Phoebe on YouTube? I'm so excited to see more indie brands being created by fabulous bloggers and vloggers and swatchers! Be sure to check out Phoebe's video introducing her brand and this collection with live application, and please visit my friend Paola's blog Nail Polish Pursuit for her review on the collection, which includes a video as well!

This collection is up for pre-order today on the Moon Shine Mani website. The holos are $12 and the shimmers/metallics are $11. You can get the full collection at a slight discount for $62. Shipping is available domestically and internationally. Let me know what you think of this inaugural collection!
