BB Couture for Men - Men in Polish Collection

Hey everyone, hope your week is going well :) I have the newest BB Couture collection to show you, called the Men In Polish collection. I'm assuming the name is a twist on the movie Men In Black, a trilogy of movies about aliens and Will Smith kicking their butts. This collection is in BB Couture's Men's polish line, but of course women can wear them as well.

First up is Area 51. This is a metallic warm medium beige. It definitely reminds me of the desert, where the location it's named for is. Very handsome color. Two coats. A little streaky but it's a smooth metallic bordering on a frost so I expected that.

Next is Anal Probe. Ok, I'm sorry, I'm all about pushing the boundaries but the name of this just makes me go EW. The color is your basic poop brown. I love BB Couture so damn much but this just escapes me. The green tinge floating at the top of my bottle makes me wanna dry heave a little bit. This is two coats. It is a bit more watery than I'd like in a creme.

Here is Boned Invader. This is my kinda color. It reminds me of Kelly's Green from the Vampy Varnish collection, only this is a darker slightly warmer shade of green. There is salt and pepper glitter in it that I love. Great application. Two coats.

Martian Mushroom is a dark grey brown cream that is nice but not super unique or terribly interesting. However it is a lovely color. I'd say it's almost bordering on having a purple tint but at a glance it looks like a muted black. Ok formula, a little thin. Two coats.

One of my favorites of the collection, metallic spring yellowy green Alien Puke. I don't know if you know this about me but I have a pretty serious phobia of vomit, so of course I'm not a fan of this one's moniker but I kinda love the color. Awesomely shimmery and metallic, this is two coats. Great formula and coverage.

Orion's Belt is a super fly stunna in the bottle, but on the nails it falls a tad flat. It's a rich black with lots of tiny holographic silver glitter, but the glitter gets truly lost in the melee and only pops occasionally in full sunlight. Very nice formula, one coater even, but I used two for this swatch. Topcoat is a must as it dries on the matte side and a little gritty.

I've said it once, I'll say it again, I love me some BBCs. However this collection isn't one I'm particularly impressed by. My picks are Alien Puke and Boned Invader, the rest I could do without. What are your thoughts on this extraterrestrial inspired group of lacquers?

You can buy BB Couture from their website or from

Products provided for review.

  1. I felt this collection was a bit of dud myself, mostly disappointed by Orion's Belt when I wore it myself. Gorgeous swatches though! You were able to capture more of that gorgeous shimmer in Boned Invader than I was!

  2. I don't really love this collection either, but I definitey agree your swatches are beautiful <3

  3. Ew, that one, that I'm not going to mention the name, is absolutely disgusting! Gross!

  4. I love Martian Mushroom and Orion's Belt, also Boned Invader is a very unique green. :-)

  5. Orion's Belt is gorgeous. I need to get me some BB Couture polishes.

  6. No, this isn't a very nice collection.. Too bad :/

However...I actually really LOLed at the eeh, Probe ;)

  7. Pushing boundaries is okay, but Anal Probe? That's just trying too damn hard. Eww.

  8. Your comments on Anal Probe made me giggle somethin' fierce! Lol! I agree, for me this collection is cheeky, yes, but a bit one note.

  9. I'm sorry, but anal probe cracks me up! I have to say, I really like Martian Mushroom, can't say I have anything like it.

  10. Beautiful swatches!!!! I agree not the most unique colors and revolting names don't make up for it. I still ordered the whole collection as I find the colors versatile and office appropriate.

  11. Yeah - a dud for me as far as wanting any of em. And just because of the name no way could I bring myself to buy Anal Probe - it's not a bad shade - I like shades like this in the camel range...but I have enough of them (thinking of OPI Ginger Bells, OPI an Apple Pie, and something I know I have in Essie too). I did buy the I hate this shade but the name is fun from OPI fall 2011 - 'h Oh, Roll Down The Window.' That one was OK name wise - the public can get the idea without the name being so to the point. And while I like the shade the name makes me not like the shade. I think the editors needed to go back to the drawing board on names for this one - surprised this on got past the chief ed.

  12. The name and the color of that polish is just... O_o

And I though Illamasqua was pushing it with a polish called Taint (which still makes me lol).
