Rainbow Honey 2012 Holiday Collection

Rainbow Honey, one of my favorite indie polish makers, came out with a holiday collection a while ago and I was lucky enough to get to review them. There are four shades that are meant to capture the brilliance of the season.

Annual Emotion is a metallic silver made with "aluminum coated flakes" and a light holographic sparkle. Gorgeous and very festive. A little thick but I expected that with such an uber metallic. This is two coats.

Gilded Angel is the same type of polish as Annual Emotion but in gold. You can pick up the holo a bit more in this as it's a silver color so it stands out. It was the best formula in the bunch, applied very easily. Two coats.

Spirit of Wonder is a while cream base with glitter bits in two shades of blue. There is also a subtle blue shimmer and larger holo hex glitters, but honestly those elements get lost in the thickness of the white base, you can't even tell they're there. In the end the polish looked too chunky and it made it hard to apply. Two coats plus topcoat.

Glittering Rapture is one I've shown you before, in my holiday mani post. This time I layered it over Spirit of Wonder, which ended up looking like I just layered it over a white. It brings out the awesome gold flakes and is a nice contrast to the multi-shaped deep red glitters. This is a bit on the thick side so take care. Two coats.

LVX Summer 2012

I learned about new brand LVX (pronounced lūx) last year from founder and creative director Branka. She told me about the line and how her colors were inspired by the height of vogue in runway fashion. I was of course intrigued and just had to try them. This is their freshman collection released for Summer 2012.

Callais is an opaque pastel blue. Very mod yet maintains a softness. Two coats.

Ecru is a pale opaque pink peachy nude. A basic color but lovely! This is two coats.

Livid is a jet black cream. Uber shiny. Two coats here. This is round two, as I had some bubbling issues, but I blame that on the environment when I was swatching rather than the polish.

Primrose is a bright pastel yellow. Much more vivid than I expected and a lovely formula. Yellows are notoriously hard to apply but this one was a breeze. Two coats.

Vermillion is a tangerine red jelly cream. Wow. Love this. Just enough orange to make the red playful and juicy looking. Two coats.

LVX polish is available online for $16 for a 17 mL bottle, larger than the average polish at 15 mL. This brand is 5-Free and made right here in the USA. Have you tried LVX or is this the first you've heard of them? I have a feeling they might become a heavy hitter in the high end polish market. Quality is their goal and they surpassed my expectations with this collection.

New Glitter Gal Holographics

My ladies down in Australia at Glitter Gal sent me some of their new holographic colors in their redesigned 10 mL bottles a while ago. I like the new bottle style much better. It's great they've expanded on their already fabulous product line!

Belgian Chocolate is a reddish brown rainbow holographic polish. I don't know if this is my favorite shade from GG, but my mother loved it so much she plucked it out of my hands the second I was done taking photos and put it on! Two coats.

Blue Suede Shoes is almost-pastel stark sky blue base with silver holo. I used three coats on this but it probably would've been fine with two. I love me some Elvis, so of course I love the name of this guy! I wish the holo was a little stronger.

Citrine is a golden yellow, just like it's namesake gem. The holo is pretty strong in this one, albeit a bit sheer. I used three coats and it could've used a fourth I think. Very pretty.

Wisteria is a lovely shade that also reflects it's moniker, a cool pale lavender with strong holo. This is also a tad sheer, this is three coats. The name reminds me of Desperate Housewives haha.
