Pretty Jelly 3rd Anniversary Trio Swatches & Review

Hey everyone! Today I have the Pretty Jelly 3rd Anniversary trio to share for your enjoyment! Even though I just got around to trying Pretty Jelly, they have been making their mark on the indie polish world for three years already! To celebrate they've created three new glitter polishes made with vibrant holographic glitters and metallic multichrome flakies.

Transcendent Triennium is a mix of gold holographic glitter and a rainbow of multichrome metallic flakies with an emphasis on pink and purple. This was a tiny bit thick only because of the incredible amount of glitter it contains. No problems though, I found it easy to apply and it was opaque in two coats.
Pretty Jelly Transcendent Triennium

Celestial is a mix of silver holographic glitter with rainbow multichrome metallic flakies. I noticed the base seemed a little thinner on this one so the first coat was a little less dense than the gold one, but it still only took two coats to cover my nail completely. This is so sparkly in person, it was hard to capture its brilliance on camera.
Pretty Jelly Celestial

Amore is a mix of pinky bronze glitter with pink, red, gold, and blue metallic flakies. The base on this one is tinted a warm orange, giving it a slightly different look than the others, more of a glitter-in-jelly than straight glitter look. Also two coats on this one. Perfect for Fall!
Pretty Jelly Amore

I thought I was off the multichrome flakie train, but this is a bit of different spin on them so it feels new and fresh again! The pre-sale for the trio is available now, going through to November 2nd, selling for $32.40 (a 10% discount) on their Etsy site. They will be released individually for $12 each on November 10th, Pretty Jelly's anniversary date. These three are beautiful polishes and I am really happy to be a part of celebrating three years of Pretty Jelly! Let me know which one is your favorite!

SuperChic Lacquer Frozen & Flurrious Collection Swatches & Review

Hi friends! Today I want to show you a brand new collection from indie brand SuperChic Lacquer called Frozen & Flurrious. It has seven awesomely sparkly and fun colors for the holiday season. I am excited to show you these, I hope you like them! I still don't have my hand pose down perfectly for their uniquely shaped bottle, but I did my best :)

First is Royal Pain in the Ice. SuperChic Lacquer describes it as "a deep lush royal blue base with a vibrant contrasting green shimmer-chrome flash and strong multi-faceted holographic effects." It's a fabulous winter shade and I love the green shimmer. This, along with most of the shades in the collection, is a bit sheer on the first coat but builds up nicely in three.

Next is Chillin' With My Sister, "a stark lush neon pink base with contrasting blue shimmer-chrome flash, loaded with icy multi-faceted holographic effects". This is a total 80s bright pink, it kinda reminds me of Lisa Frank, which I love! The glitter in this is more apparent in real life, the picture kinda flattens it out. This one is more opaque than the others, I used two coats here.
SuperChic Lacquer Chillin' With My Sister

Here is Stoked & Cloaked for the Bifrost, "a lush vibrant raspberry-purple base with contrasting cool blue chrome, copper shimmer and packed with multi-faceted holographic effects". This makes me think of candy, it's so juicy looking. I tend to favor red toned purples so this is a win for me. Three thin coats.
SuperChic Lacquer Stoked & Cloaked for the Bifrost

My favorite of the collection is Cold Hands Warm Hugs, "a lush blue-turquoise base with strong fiery violet shimmer-chrome and icy multi-faceted holographic effects". This is a real surprise to me, I didn't expect to fall in love with it like I have. The addition of the pink shimmer along with the gold & turquoise just makes the shade pop! This one was a bit more on the opaque side, but I still used three coats here.

Mmm, Chocolate Snocaps is also definitely unique, it's "a semi sweet dark chocolate base with a flash of cool blue shimmer-chrome and chocked full of icy multi-faceted holographic effects". I've never seen anything quite like this and I really love it. Blue and brown compliment each other really well and the large glitter bits look like sugar! Three thin coats.
SuperChic Lacquer Mmm, Chocolate Snocaps

This one is called Liquid Nitro Queen and it's described as "a cool wintry lavender base with a strong contrasting flash of green shimmer-chrome, packed full of icy multi-faceted holographic effects". This went on a lot more pale than I expected looking at it in the bottle, but it's not really very sheer, just about the same as the rest of the colors. Very pretty and icy and makes me think of crisp winter air during a light snowfall. Three thin coats.

And last is Ice Rageous, a "vibrant retro 'Santa Red' base with subtle copper shimmer, and loaded with icy multi-faceted scattered holographic effects". This made me think of chili peppers when I was putting it on, it's got that fiery quality. This is so juicy and blingy, I love it! I used two coats on this one.

I wanted to mention that even with the large amount of glitter in these shades, they all are relatively smooth. Especially the red and pink. They also dried semi-satiny, so you'll want to use a top coat for maximum shine. I wouldn't say these particularly seemed like they'd suite me when I first saw them, but I really enjoyed all of them once they were on my nails.

This collection will be available starting today at 4:00 pm PST on SuperChic Lacquer's Etsy store for $10 each. What do you think of this bright and wintery collection? Are there any that you definitely need to get?

Thanks for coming by today!

Lacquistry - Amazeballz

Hi everyone! I have an awesome handmade nail polish to show you today from indie seller Lacquistry. It's called Amazeballz, which is silly haha. It's not really a glitter, but more of a metal flake. It's a kind of silverish gold, more gold in the sun, more platinum in the shade. I love bling so I had to have this. All the swatches I saw online said it was opaque in 2 coats, but it took me three coats to get to this opacity and you can still see some bits where my nail pokes through in the sun, in the shade it's less noticeable. It dries smooth which is great.

Shade

I love this because it's so fun and outrageous. Not something I'd wear everyday of course, but very cool. I think I will layer this over a solid gold shade like Revlon Gold Coin the next time I wear it.

You can get Lacquistry products from their Etsy store. Amazeballz is $15 for a 0.5 oz bottle, expensive by indie standards, but I think the materials are more expensive so it makes sense. She sells a 1 oz. and a huge 2.5 oz bottle of this too, not sure why anyone would ever need that much but hey, to each their own! What do you think of this bling sensation?

Wing Dust Collections - Silent Reverie

Hi folks! I have a polish I've been waiting to wear for a while now. I was trying to let my nails grow a little so I could emulate Alexis Leigh's mani shown here. This polish is by Wind Dust Collections, an indie polish maker based in Canada. I fell in love with Alexis's swatches and knew I needed this immediately.

Silent Reverie is named after the Sarah Mclachlan song Angel, and I end up singing it in my head whenever I think of the name haha. The base of this is a beautiful ethereal white with gold shimmer. The glitters are in gold, satin white, iridescent and two shades of blue in varying sizes. Beautiful color combo that gives a the polish heavenly look. There is a lot of glitter sunk around the bottom of the bottle so I might try to add some Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food to make them swim better for next time. It was a tad on the sheer side, more so than I expected. This is three coats.

I bought this from Wing Dust Collections' Etsy store. They sell for between $8.50 and $10. Shipping is from Canada so takes a little longer than it would if it were from the states, but not too long. You can also purchase WDC polishes from Llarowe for $10.50, although Silent Reverie is not currently available on either site. You can keep up with their news and stock info on their Facebook page. What do you think of this demure polish? I'm in love!

3 Little Indies

Hi folks! Whoa, January has flown by huh! I can't believe it's almost February. Craziness! Today I'm bringing you three mini indie polishes that I bought this past summer and haven't shown you yet.

First is Pretty and Polished Bubble Tea. It's a very interesting polish, a milky jelly in a yellow slime-ish green color with teeny whitish clear glitter, that reminds me of salt, and black hexes. I layered two coats over OPI Don't Talk Bach To Me from the Germany collection. If you've ever had the real bubble tea, you know this is a spot on interpretation in polish form.

Next is Hit Polish Precious Metal. Bronze, copper, gold, silver and gunmetal colored metallic hex glitters in all sizes with a handful of holo microglitter makes this a stunner! I actually didn't even realize there was holo in it until I stepped into the sun to take this picture and it nearly blinded me! I layered two coats over OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine!. I love this and should actually get around to wearing it again soon!

And last is Hit Polish Halloween. It's a glitter polish with hexes, squares, and bar glitter in purple, green, and orange. I layered two coats over OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby?. I didn't love this as much as I expected but it's fun enough.

Pretty and Polished nail lacquers can be purchased on their Etsy store and their website. You can get Hit Polish nail lacquers from their Etsy store or their website. How do you like these guys? Have you tried anything from these brands? I love indie polishes! Well, the good ones ;)

Caged Bird Lacquers

Hi friends! I am reviewing some polishes today from a new-to-me indie brand called Caged Bird Nail Lacquer. The owner describes her polish as "a variety of both handmade from scratch nail lacquers and custom blended nail lacquers using craft and cosmetic grade glitters with existing polishes".

This is Delicata, a pretty girly pink jelly with lots of matte white glitter in all different sizes. This is an adorable polish but the glitter sinks in the base a lot. I had to tip and roll the bottle every time I went to dip my brush so I could pick up some pieces. I do really like the overall look though. Maybe it just needs a bit of tweaking formula wise. This is three coats. If I wear it again I might layer it over a solid base color.

Faerie Carnival is an array of satin pastel colored hex glitters in a clear base with a sprinkle of holo microglitter. I love this because it's really unique to my collection. This is three coats over LVX Ecru, a nude crème. I wish I was better at picking layering colors, I think it would've looked better on another base color.

You can buy Caged Bird nail lacquers on their Etsy store for $10 for a full size. Keep up with them on their Facebook page. What do you think of these?

HARE polish - Ancient Affairs

HARE polish might just be my favorite indie brand ever. I have not seen a polish Nikole has made that I haven't wanted, needed, craved to own. This one is called Ancient Affairs from her Antiquities duo. It's a dusty gray jelly with subtle blue shimmer and turquoise microglitter. Freaking gorgeous! This is three coats on my nails when they were way long, from a while ago. I think this might be the longest they've ever been!

So what do you think? And just for curiosity's sake, do you like my nails long or short? I actually am really liking them a bit longer now. I used to not be able to stand them being longer than a little "white" showing, but since I've started using Duri Rejuvacote, they've been so strong I don't even notice the length. I like the slight c-curve they get when they have some length, otherwise they're kind of flat. I think maybe they photograph best when they're a medium length, but I'm not married to a certain size these days.

You can purchase HARE Polish from their Etsy store or from Llarowe for $11. I believe they're sold out at both sites right now but Llarowe restocks frequently. Check out HARE's blog and facebook page to get up to date information about their latest goodies.

D & R Apothecary - Sand & Sea

I have a wonderful indie glitter polish from a new-to-me store on Etsy called D & R Apothecary. They mainly make soaps and lotions, but they began making nail polish not too long ago. I am in love with so many of their creations, and they are always putting up more!

The first polish I got from them is called Sand & Sea. It's such a beautiful color combination I'm surprised I haven't seen it before. This is a clear base with beautiful turquoise blue and deep metallic coffee brown glitters, in both hexes and bar glitter. I used two coats of it over China Glaze Man Hunt from the new On Safari collection, a rich cobalt blue creme.

I don't believe this particular one is available at the moment but there are plenty more to choose from. Go check them out if you haven't yet, their store is http://www.etsy.com/shop/DandRApothecary. Their mini polishes are $3.85 and their full size bottles are $8.50. I plan on getting many more of their creations in the future, they're awesome!

Pretty & Polished - Cheer Camp

I have been wallowing for a few days in a funk. As you may know, right now in Las Vegas the magic awesomeness that is the CosmoProf Las Vegas Conference is happening again. I went last year and it was so incredibly fun and exciting. I was all set to go this year, got my press pass all set, got a room at the Luxor with my blog bestie Jen the Polishaholic, and asked for the time off from work. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I found out a while ago that I would not be able to go to the conference. And in a weird coincidence, Jen couldn't go either! I am so freaking sad and wishing I could be there so hard. I am trying to smile and read the girls' tweets and blog posts who are there and feel happy for them but it's hard, haha. I am going to have to double plan ahead for next year so I don't go through this anguish again! You can keep up with all the CosmoProf LV news via my friends', Beauty Judy and PolishGalore, blogs.

I tried to drown my tears in the beauty of a new polish, this gal is called Cheer Camp by indie seller Pretty & Polished. It's part of her Summer Camp collection. Being a cheerleader for five years during middle and high school was a huge part of my life and going to cheer camp every summer was some of the best times I've ever had. I had to get this for the name alone, but it is also just a beautiful polish.

Cheer Camp has a milky pale pink base with pastel pink and purple hex glitter and micro pink glitter. I used three coats. I got this in a mini and the glitter had already begun to sink when I got it in the mail but I let it sit upside down for a while and it was fine. It doesn't bother me but I figured it was worth mentioning.

You can get Pretty & Polished nail lacquers every so often when she restocks her Etsy store, but lately she has been doing pre-orders via her blog. Prices have varied a little so I won't list them here. Do you have any P&P polishes? How do you like them? I have Phat Camp from the same collection that I'll be showing you soon. Have a great week and to everyone at CosmoProf, TAKE A BILLION PICTURES FOR ME!!!

Lush Lacquer - Party Rockin

Today I have an indie brand, Lush Lacquer, polish to show you. I honestly have been kind of swept up in the whole indie polish scene lately and have been stalking multiple sellers on etsy and elsewhere like crazy to be able to snap up some homemade glitters. However, a good chunk of the ones I've purchased on whims have been disappointments. This one is not one of them, luckily.

Lush Lacquer is a mother daughter team that produces lots of fun glitter polishes. This one is called Party Rockin. It's a "a whimsical mix of vibrant colors with a bluish jelly base and a whole lot of glitter... fuchsia, gold, blue, purple and iridescent small glitters are used throughout... blue bar glitter for some twinkle... and bright blue larger hex glitter" I have to say, I think I would like this a little more without the giant blue hex glitters. And the description doesn't say anything about orange glitter but there is plenty in there and part of why I like this mix so much. This is two coats over a reddish purple from Sally Hansen called Cherry, Cherry, Bang, Bang!
Macro, courtesy of my new iphone lens (thanks Evonne!)

You can get this on their website, http://www.etsy.com/shop/lushlacquer. The minis are $4.75 and the full sizes are $8.75. Have you tried Lush Lacquer? I bought three minis from them they're all awesome. Will show you the others soon. The only gripe I have about LL is the shipping time was kind of ridiculous. Had I known it would've taken almost a month to get these I might've waited/not ordered. *shrug* Have a great rest of the weekend!

The Hungry Asian - Belle

Hi everyone! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are in the mood for the nice bright week ahead. I have a wonderful indie polish to show you from my favorite Etsy seller, Kae of The Hungry Asian! Here is one of her newest creations, called Belle.

This is a milky white jelly with small pink hex glitter and medium brown hex glitter. Very unique and super adorable! I felt very girly wearing this mani. This is four coats with topcoat. I am loving these polishes that give the look of a glitter sandwhich without the layering :) This also looks badass matte, forgot to photograph them though.

You can get this at http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheHungryAsian, $9.25 for a full size bottle (15 ml) and $4.50 for the mini size (5 ml) which is the one I opted for. What do you think of this?

The Hungry Asian Glitter Spam

If you love glitter and you don't know about The Hungry Asian and her nail polish creations, you're missing out! My girl Kai creates mad glitter polish like a boss. I've longtime been a fan of her franken polishes and she's selling them on Etsy now, much to my and polish lovers everwhere's delight :) I ordered some from her store a while ago and I couldn't be happier with them!

First up is Twenty Ten. I LOVE dark glitters, they are so mysterious and uber sexy. This one has small square red glitter, microfine and small blue hex glitter in a sheer black base. I layered two coats onto Misa's A Sin Worth Committing. My mom was dying to put this on when I showed her my goodies! (P.S. she's been having me do her nails ever since I moved back in with her and she's dangerously close to becoming an addict haha)

Here is U Jelly?, a flippen adorable name for a polish btw. It's a cherry pink jelly with sparse fine red and light purple glitter. Uhh, Kai did you make this thing for me?! Cuz I'm head over heels for it! This is three coats.

Next is Mumbling, whoa glitter bomb!! It has large, medium and small holographic hexagon glitter in both silver and pale gold in a very subtle golden shimmering base. I freaking love this polish. I don't think Kai has made one that I don't love yet! This is three coats.

I Hate Pink is a polish of her's I've been wanting for a while and I'm so glad I finally have it! She's made of pink hexagon holographic glitter with smaller pink glitter and crimson micro glitter in a clear base. I think this looks so cool close up, I want to do a jelly/glitter sandwich with it soon. This is three coats.

Next is Sea Creature, uhh this is AMAZE-a-balls! It has medium holographic bright blue hexagon glitter, small black glitter with fuchsia and green superfine glitter in a lightly blackened base. I think all of these full glitters will look best layered over a solid color polish but for review sake, I did them on their own. This is three coats. You NEED THIS!!

And last is Vote for Purple, a pale lavender and small square and medium silver hex glitter in a subtle shimmering base. This is two coats over top of Essie's She's Picture Perfect. I don't think I've seen another glitter polish in this shade before and I adore it!

The full size bottles cost $9.25 and the mini bottles are $4.50 and you can get them at her Etsy store. I personally love mini bottles because I will probably never finish a whole bottle of any polish, haha, plus these heart bottles are so cute! The brush on them is fab too. I can't say enough about these, they're all amazing.

Some products pictured above were provided for consideration.

Pretty & Polished - Swing

This is Pretty & Polished indie polish creation Swing. I really love this polish because it's so different. I've told you before I like her polishes because a lot of them look like jelly sandwiches with using only one polish. This one really pops shows how the glitter stands out in varying depths. Swing is a berry red jelly with black, white and silver large and small hex glitter pieces.
shiny with topcoat
matte-ified
I really like this movement of indie polish makers that's come out of the woodwork lately. It's really cool to be able to support independent businesses in this economy. You can buy Pretty and Polished lacquers on http://www.etsy.com/shop/PrettyandPolished. The store is closed right now while it's being restocked but you can sign up to receive an email when the shop reopens.

Pretty & Polished - Jawbreaker

This post features an indie polish seller who calls her shop Pretty & Polished. She has some really unique lacquers available, some that I like particularly because they give the look of a "jelly sandwich" using only one polish instead of two.

This one is called Jawbreaker, and it is the spitting image of the candy it's named for. It has the classic colors, blue, red, purple, green and yellow flecks, in this case different sizes and shapes of glitter, in a milky white base. You get a more translucent look with two coats, but I used three.
Shiny with topcoat
Matte-ified, seems a bit pinker than when it's shiny.
You can purchase this and other polishes by Chelsea at her Etsy shop Pretty & Polished. She sells mini and full size bottles, $4.75 for 5mL and $8.00 for 15mL. Be sure to check it out!
