OPI The Muppets Holiday 2011 - The Shimmers

OPI came out with a Muppet themed collection for Holiday 2011 and even though I've had them since then, I didn't get around to posting them. This collection was prompted from the release of the move The Muppets, released November 23, 2011. I personally have adored them since I was a child and I eagerly anticipated this collection since the moment I heard about it. There are twelve colors in this collection, six shimmers and six glitters. Here are the first half, finally!

Designer, de Better! is a metallic foil that is seriously gorgeous. It's a silvery taupe with tons of orangish coppery flecks. So beautiful!

Warm & Fozzie is probably one of my favorite polishes in existence. It's a super complex polish made up of mostly brown metallic flecks mixed in with bronze, pink, and gold that are duochromey. The pink turns green and the bronze goes gold at different angles. Love!

Meep-Meep-Meep is a pinky red with flaky shimmer bits and iridescence. There is a some duochrome making the pink shimmer violet at certain angles. This is one of my faves because it makes me think of my ginger friend Ange, we call her Beaker :)

Animal-istic is a warm tomatoey red with an orange tinge and an iridescent sheen of pink/violet shimmer. Unique and lovely! I adore Animal, a classic Muppet.

Wocka Wocka! is a blue toned red with super fine microshimmer. Not really unique but beautiful just the same. The formula is a dream!

Pepe's Purple Passion is a muddy plum raisin color with multicolored shimmer flakes. The thick base obstructs the pretty shimmer and makes the resulting color seem almost dirty. I heard someone tried emptying some of the color and adding a bit of clear polish and it made the sparkle more prominent and the overall effect much prettier. I'll probably try it when I get a chance.

GlitterDaze - My White Lighter + Comparison

GlitterDaze is an indie nail polish company that puts out really cool glitter polishes. They have some new duochrome polishes coming out; I actually won the whole collection on a FB giveaway so I will be showing those as soon as I get them.

This polish is called My White Lighter. It's really beautiful and it glows in the dark! I didn't realize that when I picked it out, I just thought it was pretty and I wanted to try out a new brand. Its white base is glow in the dark and the glitters are different sizes of sky blue. This photo was taken a while ago so I can't recall the number of coats I used unfortunately.

The consistency is quite thick and gooey, I'm guessing due to its glow in the dark properties. I thinned this out a lot before I was able to get it to apply well and even. I read on the website they actually recommend to layer this over white to get a stronger glow and maybe that would help with the application. I'll have to try that next time. I did get a nice glow just wearing it out in the sun for a few minutes to "charge" it, evidenced in the photo below.

After I got My White Lighter, I realized that it looked similar to another polish I had gotten recently called Expecto Patronum by Dollish Polish. I had wanted it for a long time and was finally able to snag it, it was selling out every time it went on sale. Here's a little comparison of the two for you.

As you can see the blue in Expecto Patronum is more sparse and is teal rather than light blue. The base in EP is also more of a cream and in My White Lighter it's thinner and jellyish.

Dollish Polish is sold at Llarowe for $11 each, although this shade is sold out at the moment. Have you tried either of these polishes? Which would you pick? Bring It Back 2012 Rescue Beauty Lounge - Part 2

Earlier this year Rescue Beauty Lounge had their "Bring It Back" event and brought some polishes back from retirement. I showed you half of them in this post, and now here are the rest!

Here is my most anticipated BIB polish, Insouciant. This is a moody dark dusty lavender with a soft glaze of iridescent aqua and violet shimmer. I used two coats here. Lovely and sophisticated but still a little rock n' roll. One of my favorite RBLs ever.

This guy is called Opaque Nude, an uber nude. The base is tinted pink rather than beige and unlike other pink nudes, is actually quite flattering on my skin tone. Amazingly opaque, only took me two coats and leveled out nicely. A winner for sure!

Recycle is the last color that RBL brought back this year. A true classic shade, and one of the first I fell in love with from the line. A deep and lush forest green crème. Incredibly pigmented and so deep. I love that this is noticeably green, not black looking as some dark crèmes can be. Two perfect coats.
