Glam Polish Halloween 2015 Trio Collection Swatches & Review

Good day to you fine friends! I have an excellent new Halloween collection to show you today from Glam Polish! They put out a limited edition trio of holographic glitters for the Halloween season and I could not resist buying them!

Fall'n For You! has a silver holographic glitter base with holographic silver microglitter and glitters in orange, gold, copper and rose-gold. Insane! Epic! So perfect for autumn! It was really easy to apply, like all Glam Polishes, and was opaque in two coats. I am speechless, this is a stare-at-your-nails-all-day kinda polish!

Which Witch? is the same type of polish as Fall'n but with holographic glitters in shades of purple, some blues and a touch of pink in a silver holo base. Another mind-blowing shade with a really great formula! Two coats here too.

Frankenslime 2015 is the new version of the Glam Polish Frankenslime shade that they have re-created and slightly tweaked a few times over the years. You may remember me swatching the 2014 version for you here. This has a cool, bright, blue-toned green crelly base with holographic microshimmer, violet, teal green, neon green and holographic glitter. This went on effortlessly and covered completely in two coats.

Here is a comparison between Frankenslime 2014 and the new one. 2015 is on my pointer and ring fingers, and 2014 is on my middle and pinky nails. 2014 doesn't seem to have as much glitter as 2015, is missing the teal green holographic glitter hexes, and is maybe a shade deeper. I wasn't sold on getting the 2015 version of this at first, but I am so glad that I did because they're obviously completely different ;)

These all dry with a slight texture due to the densely packed glitter so use a top coat for a smooth finish. I purchased the trio from the Glam Polish website for $33. You can also buy them individually at $11. I'm seriously blown away by these, they might be some of my favorite Glams ever, and you know I have an obsession with this brand! Which would you pick? Starry Night Comparison: Pretty Serious vs. Colors by Llarowe

Hey there! Today I wanted to show you a quick comparison of two polishes I've reviewed in the past that seemed similar to me. Colors by Llarowe Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Pretty Serious Eye of Copernicus. They are both supposed to be a recreation of sorts of iconic and discontinued beauty Essie Starry, Starry Night. Let's see how they compare shall we? **EDIT: I have since learned that Eye of Copernicus is actually supposed to be a reimagined version of Chanel Ciel De Nuit, not SSN.**

Pointer & Ringer finger - Eye of Copernicus, Middle & Pinky finger - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

The photo shows two coats of each shade. The main difference is that EoC is a shade or two darker navy than TTLS. It's also more opaque. TTLS is more squishy and jelly-ish but it's thicker. There seems to be more glitter in EoC.

You can purchase Pretty Serious polishes from their website for $9.50 AUD and you can get Colors by Llarowe from their website for $12 each. I like both of these but I've gotta pick EoC because it's easier to apply, it's more affordable and Pretty Serious has cuter packaging. Which one of these would you pick?

A Few Comparisons - Cobalt Blues and Sage Greens

What's up friends? I had a few requests to do some comparisons on a couple polishes I've reviewed recently so I thought I'd throw 'em at ya today!

First is a comparison of some cobalt blue crèmes, motivated by my latest Rescue Beauty Lounge post. On my pointer finger is two coats of Nails Inc. Baker Street, on my middle finger is one coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue (original formula), on my ring finger is two coats of Rescue Beauty Lounge All About Yves, and on my pinky is two coats of KBShimmer Low and Be Bold. If I was smart I should've switched my pointer and middle so this would've been an ombre ;) The closest color to All About Yves is probably Baker Street, but it's more of a crème and AAY is more jellyish. These all have amazing formulas. I can't pick one, I am glad I have them all.

Next is comparisons of some sage green shimmery/glittery polishes, prompted by my post on Illamasqua Melange. It's harder to get in the US now so people were asking about possible dupes. Sadly, there are none to be found here. On my pointer and pinky nails I have two coats of Illamasqua Melange, on my middle finger is two coats of discontinued Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon, and on my ring finger is two coats of Butter London Two Fingered Salute. I was actually surprised by how different these all are! I, again, love them all and can't pick a favorite.

Comparison: KBShimmer vs. RBL

I thought that KBShimmer Low & Be Bold looked quite similar to Rescue Beauty Lounge's IKB:2012 when I reviewed it here, so I wanted to do a comparison. I also added in KBShimmer Right as Reign for kicks. Take a look at how they compare!

Low & Be Bold is a bright cobalt blue "near creme", an almost jellylike finish. It's very smooth and shiny. IKB:2012, which came out in the first Rescue Beauty Fan Collection, is a bit darker and more of a creme. It's also harder to manipulate because it's super pigmented. I find it difficult to make the coats even and the result is not as smooth as I'd like. Right as Reign is much darker and has a more purple tone. It has a similar finish to Low & Be Bold, very smooth and shiny. I used top coat over all three.

You can purchase KBShimmer lacquers on their website for $7.50-8.75. This particular RBL polish is retired but you can purchase other shades from their website for $18-20. Do you prefer one of these over the others? I'm glad I have each of them, but Low & Be Bold might be my favorite of the three.

Comparison: RBLs vs. BBCs

When I posted my review of the new BB Couture collection The Pirates the other day, I got a few comments asking me to compare some of them with some Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes. So here ya go!

First up is Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily vs. BB Couture Calico Jack. Aqua Lily is from the Fan Collection from Spring 2012. Aqua Lily is on the left and Calico Jack is on the right. You can see that while similar, they are not dupes. AL is brighter and more vivid. CJ is a lighter and more muted shade of turquoise and includes lots of whitish glass fleck type glitters in with the pink shimmer. This is more visible in the shade photo below. Both have excellent formulas.

And the other comparison is Rescue Beauty Lounge Réveillon vs. BB Couture La Buse. Réveillon came out just this past fall/winter in the Fan 2.0 Collection. Réveillon is on the left and La Buse is on the right. Again, they are definitely similar but not dupes. The RBL is a silvery, more crisp blue and has more shimmer particles. La Buse has a more grayed tone and mixes in a few whitish glass flecks with a more subtle shimmer. I love both of these and couldn't choose between them.

GlitterDaze - My White Lighter + Comparison

GlitterDaze is an indie nail polish company that puts out really cool glitter polishes. They have some new duochrome polishes coming out; I actually won the whole collection on a FB giveaway so I will be showing those as soon as I get them.

This polish is called My White Lighter. It's really beautiful and it glows in the dark! I didn't realize that when I picked it out, I just thought it was pretty and I wanted to try out a new brand. Its white base is glow in the dark and the glitters are different sizes of sky blue. This photo was taken a while ago so I can't recall the number of coats I used unfortunately.

The consistency is quite thick and gooey, I'm guessing due to its glow in the dark properties. I thinned this out a lot before I was able to get it to apply well and even. I read on the website they actually recommend to layer this over white to get a stronger glow and maybe that would help with the application. I'll have to try that next time. I did get a nice glow just wearing it out in the sun for a few minutes to "charge" it, evidenced in the photo below.

After I got My White Lighter, I realized that it looked similar to another polish I had gotten recently called Expecto Patronum by Dollish Polish. I had wanted it for a long time and was finally able to snag it, it was selling out every time it went on sale. Here's a little comparison of the two for you.

As you can see the blue in Expecto Patronum is more sparse and is teal rather than light blue. The base in EP is also more of a cream and in My White Lighter it's thinner and jellyish.

You can buy GlitterDaze polishes on their website and their Etsy store for $11 for a full size and $6 for mini bottles. Dollish Polish is sold at Llarowe for $11 each, although this shade is sold out at the moment. Have you tried either of these polishes? Which would you pick? Cute As A Button vs. Temptation

A few of yous guys mentioned you'd like to see a comparison between a polish I showed you the other day, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Temptation, and Essie Cute As A Button. Welp here ya go luvs!

Cute As A Button is one of my favorite Essie's ever and I really liked Temptation when I wore it but didn't make the connection to their similarity until it was pointed out to me by some readers. They actually are super similar, but not quite dupes.

The Essie is a smidge warmer/more coral and the Sally Hansen is a bit more opaque and is a total crème where the Essie has almost more of a jelly-crème finish. Both are excellent polishes. If you're having trouble finding Cute As A Button, try Temptation. You should be able to find it in stores wherever Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is sold.

Two Tudor Comparisons

What's up chickadees? I said I was going to try to do more comparison posts and true to my (sometimes flakey) word, here is another. I showed you the Rescue Beauty Lounge Tudor Dynasty collection the other day and two of them have similar shades from other brands so I wanted to show them to you so you'd get a better feel for them.

Here is Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne, on my index and ring fingers, compared to Zoya Edyta, on my middle and pinky fingers. Edyta has a swampier base color and Anne's is more olive. The Zoya also has an almost foil-like shimmer and is darker. I prefer the RBL out of these two, mainly for the pink shimmer. Pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations.

This is Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine H, on my index and ring fingers, compared to BB Couture Impact Driver on my middle and pinky fingers. They are close to each other but not total dupes. The BB is a touch deeper and has less shimmer. Also the shimmer is a little more flake-like than in the RBL.

Scandalous vs. Starfish Patrick

Hi folks :) I really enjoy comparison posts, it really helps you as readers and that makes me happy. I wish I would make time for more of them, so I will definitely work on that in the future. This particular comparison was requested by someone when I posted the Rescue Beauty Lounge Spongebob Squarepants collection the other day.

The contenders are Cult Nails Scandalous, swatched here, and Rescue Beauty Lounge Starfish Patrick, swatched here. Scandalous is on the left, Starfish on the right.

Index and ring fingers features Scandalous, middle and pinkie have Starfish Patrick on. As you can see, Scandalous is darker and more straight jelly while Starfish Patrick is paler and more of a hybrid jelly crème formula. Scandalous is swatched with three coats and SP is swatched with four coats.

Both are excellent polishes, I honestly couldn't choose between them! Orange Pacific vs. Riveting

Hey folks! I'm so in love with The Hunger Games movie, it's not even funny. I showed you some of the polishes from China Glaze's Hunger Games collection yesterday and today I wanted to make a comparison for one of them. Riveting from the HG set is an intense orange with gold shimmer and it reminded me of one of China Glaze's older lacquers, Orange-Pacific.

Orange-Pacific is on my index and ring fingers, Riveting is on my middle and pinky nails. OP is more red toned and Riveting has much more gold. Also, OP took three coats to make opaque and Riveting only took two, plus R has a much better formula. If I'm not mistaken, I think OP is the older formula (it came out in the Surf Collection of 2007) which isn't Big-3 Free, that could account for the formula difference.

Hope this helped anyone out there wondering how these stacked up against one another! Oh, and on another "orange" note, I just got a new kitty! He's a long-haired domestic with orange and white fur. I named him Sawyer :D

Electric Pineapple vs. Fiercely Fiona

I wanted to show you a comparison between China Glaze's new color Electric Pineapple, from the Island Escape collection, and OPI's Fiercely Fiona, from their Shrek Collection.

EP is more green than FF for sure. Pineapple is also a thicker polish but I find that I used the same amount of coats for each anyway. They are similar enough to say you don't really need them both, but depending on your coloring, one could look better on you than the other.

Re-do! BB Couture A Touch of Greece collection

I recently reviewed the new collection from BB Couture, "A Touch of Greece". I got them at a time when there wasn't enough sun to photograph them in, but I wanted to show them to you all as soon as possible. So I decided that flash photos had to do. Well, never being one to just accept mediocrity, I decided to re-swatch them all the first chance I got on a sunny day. So here is the second round! Hope you like them, I sure like them better than the first set :)

I also wanted to do a few of the comparisons that were requested by readers. The first is Uranus (pointer and middle) and Hades (pinky) versus OPI San-tan Tonio (ring). As you will see, ST is very much the most nude while Uranus is more butterscotch and Hades is yellow toned with slight shimmer.

The other comparison I was requested to do is with Plutus, the bright grass green crème. Pointer finger shows OPI Don't Mess with OPI, on my middle finger is China Glaze Starboard, and on my ring and pinky is Plutus.
