Native War Paints Brokelyn 2017 Polish Con Exclusive Swatch & Review

Hi friends, today I have a special polish to share with you, a limited edition shade from Native War Paints created as an exclusive for the nail polish event Polish Con. They are selling it on the convention website starting tomorrow with a limited amount of stock, with a pre-order to follow.

Brokelyn 2017 is a smokey indigo blue filled with glowy copper shimmer. Applies like butter, seriously effortless to polish with. If you use a normal-to-thick coat (like I usually do), it's opaque in one layer. If you're a stickler for thinner coats, you'll probably need two. I used two here because I always do.

It dries a tad dull so you'll want top coat to bring out that copper fire. The polish in the horizontal photo below looks a little lighter because the NWP stark white label seen in the vertical shot above messes with my white balance a little, even though I try to fix the color/exposure the best I can. I think the second photo shows the polish most accurately in full sun lighting.

Brokelyn 2017 will be available on the Polish Convention website tomorrow, Sunday Dec. 3 at 9am EST and will sell for $10. There are only 50 available at this time, then it will go up for pre-order. I wouldn't hesitate to grab this one, especially if you're not able to attend Polish Con in person, which is going to be in New York City for the next round in April 2017. Glam Polish Halloween Horror Shop Collection [Partial] Swatches & Review

Hello and happy weekend! Today I get the privilege of sharing a few shades that will be released in the upcoming Glam Polish 2016 Halloween Horror Shop event! There are a whopping 25 shades released for this event, all limited editions in small batches, each exclusive to the Glam Polish site, meaning they can and probably will sell out quickly. And they will not be restocked. I have four of the 25, only a few bloggers are reviewing shades from the collection, and they are all dope! We all know that Halloween is my favorite holiday (it's practically a season, really), and these horror movie/tv inspired shades are so right up my alley!

Fright Night is a dark grape purple scattered holographic filled with color shifting flakies and glass flecks. This is loaded to the brim with goodies but it wasn't difficult to apply which was nice, it spreads out on the nail evenly and covers nicely. Two coats here. Fright Night is an 80's teen horror that I haven't actually watched, can you believe it! I'll have to fix that soon.

You Are Who You Eat is an intense linear holographic in a berry pinky crimson shade. This applied like magic, it's a one coater but the color deepens slightly with two. This is named for the 1999 black comedy horror film Ravenous, another I haven't seen.

Tales From the CRYPT is a shifting blue-purple with holographic flakies. Another easy one, two coats for opacity. The CRYPT series was on tv when I was still a child so I never got the chance to watch them, but that skeleton guy still creeps me out whenever I think about him haha.

Frights! Camera! Action! is a teal scattered holographic with strong crimson shimmer and holo flakies. This one made me gasp when I first saw it in the bottle, a seriously stunning shade. The pinky red flash is easier to see in person, my photo can't do it justice. As far as I can tell, this name is referencing the cartoon Monster High, but I'm not sure haha.

The Halloween Horror Shop shades will be available on on Friday, September 30th at 1pm EDT (USA) on the Glam Polish website for $12 each. The other 21 shades are listed in their shop now if you want to see all that will be available, there's honestly too many to write out here haha. It cracks me up that being such a fan of the horror genre, the four shades I got are named after movies/shows that I haven't seen! Are you a scary movie junkie??

Glam Polish Limited Edition Valentine's Trio Swatches & Review

Yay for Friday! We made it cookies, we made it through another week! :) Today I have an awesome new trio from Glam Polish to show you! This is their Valentine's collection, three beautiful shades in different finishes that are perfect for the holiday!

You'll Be In My Heart is a cerise red intense linear holographic. Very opaque, basically a one coater but I did two here. I love this, kind of a berry type of red, and that holo?? So good!

Love Is An Open Door has a silvery holographic base filled with red, pink, rose, bright pink, gold, and silver microglitter. I'm seriously dying over the Glam glitters lately, swoon! This applies really easily, no fuss. Total coverage in two coats. Dries a little textured so you may want two layers of top coat to smooth it.

Kiss The Girl is a bright fuchsia jelly with shimmering scattered holographic and multicolored holo microglitter bits. Another very pigmented shade and easy to apply. I used two coats. This is such a fun look, it screams girly! It dries a bit gritty with the glitter, so a thick top coat will be necessary for a glassy finish.

These three shades are available on the Glam Polish website now. They are $11.50 each or $34 for the set of three. These are mentioned as being very limited edition, so don't hesitate to pick them up if you like what you see! Loaded Lacquer Zombie Hayride Swatch & Review

Hi everyone! I wanted to show you a polish that I got not too long ago that I've just gone gaga for, but sadly it's no longer available. Don't hate me for showing you a polish you can't buy anymore! I just had to post it, it's too great!

The polish is Zombie Hayride by indie brand Loaded Lacquer. I bought this during the last restock they did of the polish, I don't think they're going to bring it back again because it was a Halloween shade for this year. It has iridescent blue/green bar glitters, small metallic purple/pink hex glitters and holographic purple microglitter. I layered it over BB Couture Evil Queen, which I showed you here.

It's AMAZING and I love it. I hope Loaded Lacquer decides to bring this back one day, because no one should be denied this beauty. *EDIT* I just heard from the maker that they are going to restock this a few more times! Keep your eyes peeled! *END EDIT* Even girls who don't like bar glitter have said that they are in love with it! You can purchase other Loaded Lacquers on their website, they are $10 per bottle.

Cirque Colors Ultimate Holographic Gift Set Review & Swatches

Hello and how are you my dear? I hope you are well on this fine November day! I am a little under the weather but not too terribly so, thank goodness. Today I would like to show you a really terrific limited edition gift set for the holidays from Cirque Colors. They are an independent brand based in New York. Their Ultimate Holographic gift set comes with eight linear holographic nail polishes in a windowed black gift box.

First up is Alter Ego, a black holographic. This is pretty dark, the black holos I've tried in the past always seem more charcoal colored, but this is nice and inky. Two smooth and easy coats. I used Cirque Colors' base and top coat for all the swatches in this post.

Bejeweled is a bright royal blue holographic. I find blue holos swoon-worthy and this is no exception. So perfect for the winter! Two coats.

Next is Chrysopoeia, which I wasn't expecting to love as much as I do. These really yellow golds can be hard for me to pull off, but this one looked nice with my skin tone. Two coats here also.

Then we have Cypress, which is a little more sheer and thinner than the rest. It's a rose gold coppery holographic with some copper shimmer bits. This was one I anticipated loving, but it doesn't look the greatest with my coloring. Three coats here.

Fascination Street is perfection though, a blueish violet holographic. Really just fabulous, almost a one coater. I used two in my swatch.

I'm also loving Lonesome George, a grassy green holographic. I have seen very few true green holographics so I was happy to see this shade in the box. It's quite lovely. Two coats.

Sani is the only polish in this set that is simultaneously metallic and holographic. I don't know if I have anything similar. It's a chromey silver metallic with true linear holographic pigment, making it incredibly bright, especially in the sunlight. This was kinda hard to photograph, I hope you can see it's uniqueness from my pic. Two coats, a little on the draggy side.

And last is Vesuvius, a medium rose pink holographic. I really love this tone of pink and when you add holo to it, I'm over the moon! Two coats.

The Ultimate Holographic gift set sells for $80. Their polishes normally retail for $13 each so this set gives you a nice discount when buying all 8. It is limited edition so be sure to snap it up while you can! I wanted to mention the great packaging of these polishes, the square bottle looks luxe and is sturdy and I love the caps, they feel like glass!

I mentioned their top and base coats above so I wanted to review them as well. The blue-tinted Holdfast base coat dries quickly and has infused garlic to strengthen nails. I like it very much. The Liquid Laminate top coat is also lovely, it dries really fast and is incredibly shiny. I did notice shrinking at the edges on one manicure I used it with. However that tends to happen with improper application with a lot of quick dry top coats, and my technique could've been off that day. Overall they perform very well and I will continue to use them. They retail for $10 each. They are also included in Cirque's Back to Basics gift set, which also includes their white and black crèmes, for $36.

I was also able to try their crystal nail file and tea tree cuticle oil pen. If you know me, you know that I prefer crystal files, they are the BEST for shaping your nails and not damaging. I am also a fan of cuticle oils in general, and this pen is perfect to use on the go. They both sell for $10 each.

Deborah Lippmann - Raise Your Glass

Howdy folks! I wanted to show off a recently acquired polish love of mine, Deborah Lippmann Raise Your Glass. This was created for Holt Renfrew celebrating their 175th anniversary back in 2012. I didn't know who/what that was at first, but I found out it's a Canadian department store. So this was a Canada exclusive polish, making it double hard to find as it was also very limited edition. I finally was able to get a hold of it by purchasing it on a blog sale a while ago, after trying to get it for almost two years, score!

Raise Your Glass is a deep magenta creme that has glorious small fuchsia hex glitters running through it. Since it's a creme rather than a jelly, I find using a ridge-filling base coat helps make it more even, so the glitter doesn't sink into the color as much. I also find it to be a "thirsty" glitter and dry a little flat so I used two coats of top coat to give it a more glass-like surface. This color is darker indoors, almost murky looking, but with the bright sun shining on it you see through the depths and the suspended glitter just radiates. This is two coats.

This was one of my major lemmings and I am so glad I finally own it. I really love how it looks with my skin tone. It's also an interesting color, leaning cool and warm at the same time and the base & glitter color combo is unique to my collection. Lippmann polish usually retails for $18-20 but like I said, this particular one is a little hard to find haha. Have a great weekend!

Nicole by OPI Roughles Collection Swatches & Review

Howdy friends! Today I'm excited to show you a new limited edition collection from Nicole by OPI called Roughles, pronounced "ruffles". It is a quartet of texture polishes with speckled flecks of color in them. They are totally easter colors, waaay cute! I love the matte roughed up texture to these too, the bits are less defined in shape than some others, more irregular and varied.

First is Rock the Look, a pastel pink with flecks in orangey red and some in grey. I really love this, but I'm naturally a pink lover so I expected that haha. This is two coats. Formula on all of these was quite easy to work with, not too thick and covered easily.

This guy is On What Grounds?, an awesome pastel turquoise with blue and grey flecks. I wore this as a full mani a while ago and got a ton of compliments on it all day. This can stain so double up on your base coat if you're worried about that. Two coats here.

Here is Sand In My Shoe, a gorgeous pastel yellow with orange speckles. I have a soft spot for pale yellows so this is definitely one of my favorites! Also two coats.

And to round out the foursome we have I'm Stucco On You, a pastel purple with flecks in blue and red. I'm not usually a huge purple lover but this I'm really liking this one! Two coats.

You can purchase Nicole by OPI from stores like Walmart, Target and Kmart for around $8. I hope you can still find them if you haven't gotten them yet as these are limited edition. What do you think of this Spring collection? I'm really head over heels with them, Nicole really hit it outta the park on these.

I wanted to mention that these swatches are the first ones I have taken indoors that I actually like and think are good! Back when I first started blogging and didn't know what I was doing, I only posted flash indoor photos :( It makes me cringe when I even think about it. Then I got a new camera and realized I could take much better pictures using sunlight, then I decided I could only do outdoor shots well and couldn't go backwards. Needless to say this limited my swatching times and decreased my posting. Occasionally I would try indoor shots with my desk lamp but they never were up to my usual standards with sharpness, clarity and color.

I have tried a million different indoor lighting setups but I think I finally found one that works for me. Halleloo! What do you think of these photos?? I still think I prefer sunlight, but this way I will be able to blog more often and that makes me very happy. Lynnderella - Pink and Red Went to Bed

Hi everyone! Today I have a special polish to show you. It's one of my most beloved lacquers of all time. Probably mostly because I paid way too much for it. But hey, you only live once right ;) This is a limited edition polish from Lynnderella that I got on ebay called Pink and Red Went to Bed. It's is made up of large and medium matte red hex glitters with a slightly shimmery almost clear pink tinted base and blue iridescent shards. It's pretty magnificent. I layered two coats over Essie Cute as a Button for this mani.

It's made up of mostly glitter so it is incredibly dense. Quite hard to paint with, and it takes a hefty dose of topcoat to smooth. But look how pretty!! I'm irrationally in love with this. What do you think? Am I totally crazy? It's ok if you say yes, I know I am :) Have a great day!

Elixir Lacquers - Roller Derby Ruckus & Elixirversary

Elixir Lacquers has a new collection out called Roller Derby Ruckus. My sister plays roller derby and I know how badass those ladies are! What a fun idea for a polish collection huh! I was asked to try a few from the bunch to review so here they are!

Kandy Krusher is a crazy collection of matte glitters and some micro iridescent glitz. The big pieces are bright blue hexes and purple squares, there are little hexes in hot orangey red and some medium shiny blue hexes. I can't lie, when I first saw this I was like wtf?! But on the nail it really works! I layered/dabbed two coats over my go-to black Cult Nails Nevermore.

Trixie Treacherous has a clear base with tons of micro red glitter and shiny metallic hexes in red, rose, and pink. I think less coats of this would've looked nicer; this is three over Cult Nails Disciplined, a grey shimmer. Not my favorite, but maybe I can try it over a pink or something and it would make a better impression on me.

And for the special edition polish Nicole created for her anniversary, Elixiversary. This is a fab collection of matte and shiny glitters in all shapes and sizes in a soft color scheme of blues and purples. I layered three coats over Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant. The glitters were harder to get to stay on the nail because the base was pretty viscous, but it gave a nice payoff.

The Roller Derby Ruckus collection will be released on Elixir Lacquers' website on February 1st for $10 each. Elixirversary is being released in very limited quantities, only 75 bottles total. Nicole is releasing them on the 16th of each month, the next restock dates are February 16th and March 16th for $12. What are your thoughts on these three polishes?

Cult Nails - Toxic Seaweed

Hi friends! Just popping in with a 'nail of the day' :) Cult Nails put out a limited edition glitter bomb a while ago called Toxic Seaweed. It's friggen a-mah-zing! It's a sea green jelly with absolutely tons of glitter, silver almost-microglitter and orangey gold flakes. Really complex and unique. This is three coats, with adequate dry time between coats. Next time I will layer it over a deep green to make it more opaque.

You can get this, for now, at www.cultnails.com for $10. Be quick, like I said, it's limited edition so when it sells out it's gone. I also can't wait to try this matte, which I'm sure will be sooo sexy. I would've done it today, but I'm house-sitting and forgot some of my nail stuff. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Nars Night Series Nail Polish Collection

Here are two polishes from Nars' Night Series, based on the iconic Night Series eyeshadow palette.

Night Porter is a fantastically drool-inducing blackened emerald with green, blue, and gold shimmer flakes, almost glass flake looking. This is seriously ga ga gorgeous, I can't handle it. This one I passed on buying but my sister snatched it up, so I borrowed it to swatch. O.M.G. I can't believe I didn't get it. This is two coats with a topcoat for shine, as it dries dull.

Night Rider (of course, my mind immediately goes to David Hasselhoff) is a greyed pinky lavender jellyish base with plummy pink and silver shimmer flecks. This formula wasn't fantastic but it was acceptable. This is two coats.

Currently these are still available on narscosmetics.com along with Night Flight, the blue polish. It looks like the only one currently unavailable is the black and silver Night Breed. You may also still be able to find these at your local Nars counters. Have a great one dolls!

OPI I Pink I Love You: Japan Edition

I got this in a swap on Makeup Alley from a lovely chica in Singapore.  She was fab enough to custom purchase this beautiful Japan-exclusive OPI glitter, I Pink I Love You from the 10th Anniversary OPI Japan Collection that came out a few years ago.  I feel really excited that I have this polish, it's so beautiful!  Bright warm pink with tons of little square multi-colored glitter pieces.  It reminds me of the Happy Birthday Barbie that I had when I was little!  This is three coats.

this "opulent" red essie is infused with 24 kt. gold, which is why i guess it cost $18 when it first hit the shelves. i, however, picked it up at Ross discount store for under $5. i love limited edition polishes, and was happy to get this one at a reasonable price. this is two coats of uber richness :)  behold love, beverly hills xx
