OPI Coca-Cola Collection 2014 Swatches & Review

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to show off the OPI Coca-Cola collection. This originally came out last year at the beginning of summer, but a lot of the shades are being re-released this year. There are also two additional shades that I will show you in another post soon. This bunch of colors is perfect for the Coca-Cola fan, they are all inspired by their different drink flavors!

A Grape Affair is an homage to Grape Fanta, which I've personally never tried but it sounds good. This is a deep, vampy purple crème. It was easy to apply and opaque in two coats. This is one of the shades that has been re-released this year.
OPI A Grape Affair

Next is probably the most popular of the collection, Coca-Cola Red! Talk about iconic! This is an amazing, quintessential bright red. It's actually opaque in 1 coat! The formula reminds me of one of my favorite polishes of all time in it's perfection, the original Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. I used two coats for consistency but you could definitely use just one if you wanted to. Another shade that is being re-released, 'natch.
OPI Coca-Cola Red

Get Cherried Away is a wine-y magenta crème inspired by Cherry Coke. It has nice coverage but it's on the thin side. Be careful to avoid any pooling in your cuticles because this one might stain (see the edge of my cuticle on my pointer?). Two coats here. This is also being re-released this year.
OPI Get Cherried Away

Here is Green On The Runway, a metallic green to reddish brown duochrome. Sprite is the inspiration flavor here, and I think they did a good job with it! This one has a thin formula but I got it opaque on two coats. It is kinda brushstrokey though. This shade was not one of the repromotes for this year.
OPI Green On The Runway

My Signature Is "DC" is a classic silver foil. This is the shade they made for Diet Coke, which is my personal pick out of the Coca-Cola beverage line up. This might be the best silver foil I've ever used! Easy, perfect formula and opaque in one coat! You can get this one in the re-released collection this year.
OPI My Signature Is "DC"

Here is Orange You Fantastic!, a sheer yellowy orange jelly with orange, gold, yellow and red glitter inspired by Orange Fanta. I wasn't sure if this was a texture polish, but upon fully drying down it most definitely is. You can add a thick layer or two of top coat if you don't want the texture, but I left it off in this swatch. Easy to apply, two coats. This polish makes me think of Fall and Halloween and I love it! Not re-released this year.
OPI Orange You Fantastic!

Sorry I'm Fizzy Today is a smooth pink crème. I can't believe I haven't worn this until now, but it's really beautiful. This was made with Vanilla Coke in mind, which I kind of don't get. Just an ok formula, I used 3 coats here. The color is just different enough to actually be a unique shade for me, which is saying something considering all the pinks I have in my collection! It's got a touch of coral or maybe peach to it. This is one that you can pick up in the updated collection this year.
OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today

This guy is called Today I Accomplished Zero, inspired by Coke Zero. It's got a black jelly base with muted red metallic hex glitters. It goes on sheer at first, but builds up in three coats to be opaque. I was surprised at how smooth this is, not chunky at all. It doesn't dry very shiny, so I would still recommend a top coat. Not one of the re-released shades.
OPI Today I Accomplished Zero

Last is You're So Vain-illa, a pale yellowy beige crème for Vanilla Coke. This is a cool shade, much prettier on than I expected. Ok formula, I needed three coats to even it out but it was painless. This polish is available in this year's collection.
OPI You're So Vain-illa

OPI is found at places like Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply and professional salons for around $9.50 each. Did you pick up this collection last year? If not, are you picking any up this year? Stay tuned for the two new shades and we'll see you again soon!

FingerPaints Film Noir Collection Swatches & Review

FingerPaints is Sally Beauty's in-house brand of nail polish and I used to buy them all the time when I used to live by the stores. But since I've moved to a much smaller town, where the most exciting store is CVS :( , I haven't bought as many as I used to. So when I got the chance to try some of their recent collections for review, I was quite happy! This collection came out during the middle/end of the summer so they might still be in stores. It's called the Film Noir collection and it's made up of four polishes that all dry to a matte finish.

First is Petal Obsession, a pale baby pink. This had a quite finicky formula, it dries very quickly so it was hard to apply without big streaks. On the first coat, some areas even shrunk up like crackle polish does! After three coats though I was able to make it look even and nice looking. It dried very matte, not satiny.
FingerPaints Petal Obsession

Next is Beautiful Mystery, a pale baby blue. Same formula as the pink above, this is also three coats. I love this color!
FingerPaints Beautiful Mystery

This is Film Noir, a deep burgundy purple. It dries a few shades darker than it looks in the bottle. Same formula, maybe dried a tad slower than the others, so application was a little easier. Three coats.
FingerPaints Film Noir

And this is Hollywood Decadence, a pale milky base with a glitter mix of washed out blue, pink and gold hexes. Application was fairly easy, the glitter is quite dense. I don't really like the look of this and I have similar polishes that are prettier imho. After I did these swatches I saw some people used Hollywood over the other colors in the collection, and that looked much better than it did on its own. I used two thick coats here.
FingerPaints Hollywood Decadence

I like the look of matte polish but the application usually turns me off to buying them. I'd rather use regular polish and just apply a matte top coat. That said, there are some pretty colors in this collection if you don't mind the matte formula. Look for FingerPaints in your local Sally Beauty stores or online, they are around $5.50 per bottle. What do you think of this polish quartet? Would you wear any of them? How do you feel about mattes?

See ya next time :)

Orly Hot Tropics Swatch & Review

Hey folks :) Today I wanted to show you a dope a$$ polish from Orly called Hot Tropics. It came out in their summer collection called Baked. I got this in the Nailbox Pre-Fall 2014 Trendbox. It contains four polishes, a matte top coat and a set of nail wraps, all curated by Chalkboard Nails! I won the box participating in a #NailGlossip chat on Twitter not too long ago.

Hot Tropics is a slightly pinky fuchsia purple almost neon with lots of flecky silverish gold shimmer. This is a seriously fabulous polish, really lovely on any skin tone and just fun. I love it for summer but it's a great transition shade too, as it's not super neon but still has a touch of that radiance. Two easy, dreamy coats.
Orly Hot Tropics purple baked collection

You might still be able to pick this up at Sally Beauty or Ulta stores, or you can get it on Orly's website. It's also still available in the Trendbox I mentioned above. What do you think of this beauty? Is it your cup of tea? I'll see you soon darlings :)

China Glaze Summer 2014 Off Shore Collection Part 2 Swatches & Review

Hey guys n' dolls, today I have the second half of the China Glaze Off Shore collection, the Dune Our Thing set! I reviewed the first half HERE if you missed it. This set is more cool toned and the other ones are on the warmer side. Half of this collection I purchased and half were sent to me for review. So, let's dive in!

Dune Our Thing is a medium berry magenta crème. Beautiful shade, I love this and wouldn't reign it in as just a summer color. Wonderful formula, really buttery. This is two coats, but you might be able to get away with one.
China Glaze - Dune Our Thing // kelliegonzo.com

Here is Feel The Breeze, a baby pink neon crème. I knew I needed this color when I first saw pics of this collection, it is just meant for me! A little thick but manageable in two coats. This one dries satiny so use a top coat for shine.
China Glaze - Feel The Breeze // kelliegonzo.com

Now Wait N' Sea is a freaking fabulous color! It's an aqua turquoise slightly teal crème with an impeccable formula, dries shiny. Two coats. And no staining!
China Glaze - Wait N' Sea // kelliegonzo.com

X-Ta-Sea is a medium purple crème that is not really bright still manages to be radiant enough to fit in this collection. Thin formula and a little patchy, dries shiny. I used two coats here but I think I should've used three.
China Glaze - X-Ta-Sea // kelliegonzo.com

This is Float On, which is the name of one of my favorite songs, but also a really great polish! Neon pink, in my opinion, can't ever do ya wrong. Two easy breezy coats, dries satiny.
China Glaze - Float On // kelliegonzo.com

And last is I Sea the Point, a lovely bright cobalt blue crème. I swoon over blues like this, I can never have enough of them. Perfection in a bottle, two coats. Dries slightly satin.
China Glaze - I Sea the Point // kelliegonzo.com

This collection is a total must have to me, I think there's only one I could do without (X-Ta-Sea). Great, great collection. Sally Beauty stores might still have these in stock, but if not you can search for them online and probably will be able to get them easily. What do you think of this collection? Do you wear seasonal colors in the "correct" season or do you make your own rules? Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have a great week :)

China Glaze Summer 2014 Off Shore Collection Part 1 Swatches & Review

I know it's not summer anymore (well I guess technically Fall starts on September 23 with the equinox?) but I am not through with summer collections! I don't have rules when it comes to what polishes I wear when, I will wear a neon yellow in the dead of winter if I get the urge! But of course we know we will most likely see brights and neons released during summer and I'm always eager to stock up on them.

One collection I was especially excited for this year is China Glaze Off Shore, 12 eye popping summer shades worthy of hanging ten on our tips and toes. I got six of these shades for review and I purchased the other six myself. Here is the first half, the Stoked to Be Soaked set.

First up is Sun Upon My Skin a bright sun bleached yellow crème. This one was thin and not super self leveling. After three coats it ended up looking pretty good. I love yellow polishes and this is a super pretty one.
China Glaze - Sun Upon My Skin // kelliegonzo.com

Next is Shore Enuff, a bright lime crème. The formula was on the thick side but it wasn't hard to make work in two coats. Dries kinda satiny, so use a top coat for maximum shine. LOVE!
China Glaze - Shore Enuff // kelliegonzo.com

Next is If In Doubt, Surf It Out, a soft sun bleached peachy orange crème. I usually love soft oranges so I figured I'd adore this, and I do! Another thin formula but it wasn't difficult, two coats here.
China Glaze - If In Doubt, Surf It Out // kelliegonzo.com

This is Sea's the Day, a berry red crème. I love this tone of red, kinda pinky rather than a straight blue red. Makes it more wearable to me. Nice formula and very shiny finish. Two coats.
China Glaze - Sea's the Day // kelliegonzo.com

I really love Be More Pacific, a sun bleached lime crème. This color seems pretty unique to my collection, which is a feat, and I like it with my skin tone. Same formula as Sun Upon My Skin, not the easiest. Three coats.
China Glaze - Be More Pacific // kelliegonzo.com

Last is Stoked to Be Soaked, a bright juicy medium orange. I've noticed on some blog reviews that some people have a version with shimmer. I bought this one, it wasn't a press sample so maybe that's why? I'm not sure, but either way, it's a great color with a great formula. Two coats.
China Glaze - Stoked to Be Soaked // kelliegonzo.com

Again, I know the sunny summer season is mostly over, but just know that you can wear "summer colors" any time you want! You might still be able to find these in Sally Beauty Supply stores, but can definitely still get them online at various e-tailers. What do you think of this half of the collection? Did you pick up any of them? How do you feel about wearing brighter colors outside of the warmer months? Stay tuned for the second part of the collection, coming soon!

Color Club Summer 2014 Poptastic Collection Swatches & Review

Greetings my fine friends! I'm still hanging on to the edge of summer with this collection from Color Club, it's their Summer 2014 Poptastic colors. Six neon lacquers that will make you want to grab your sunnies and hit the beach!

First in the collection is Kapow!, the quintessential neon pink with a slight purple shimmer. I adore pinks and this is just right up my alley. Great formula, thin but not too thin and easy to manipulate. This is two coats.
Color Club - Kapow! // kelliegonzo.com

Next we have Bell Bottom Babe which looked out of place in this collection to me at first, but I think it ends up fitting in pretty nicely with that shimmahhh. It's a medium purpley blue with purple shimmer. Thin formula, I needed three coats here.
Color Club - Bell Bottom Babe // kelliegonzo.com

My favorite of the collection is Foxy Mama, although the name is pretty corny haha. This retina-searing neon orange is so perfect, with awesome golden orange shimmer it just screams LOOK AT ME! Thick-ish formula, two coats.
Color Club - Foxy Mama // kelliegonzo.com

This is Right On, a pretty neon purple with a blueish purpley shimmer shift. Really lovely, I adore this and I don't usually love purples. Thinner formula, but opaque in two coats.
Color Club - Right On // kelliegonzo.com

Not So Mellow Yellow is right, it's anything but mellow! Another blinding neon, this one is a classic highlighter yellow with some added shimmer. Kinda thick but not unworkable.
Color Club - Not So Mellow Yellow // kelliegonzo.com

And last is Peace, Love & Polish, a slightly coraly light/medium pink neon with awesome warm gold shimmer. Instant love! Also on the thick side, this is two coats.
Color Club - Peace, Love & Polish // kelliegonzo.com

I love that a white base coat is not needed for these neons! The three thicker ones take a light touch for application but the thinner ones are pretty easy to apply. These can be found on Color Club's website for $8.50 each. What do you think of these hawt neons?

Rescue Beauty Lounge Italian Summer Collection Swatches & Review

Hey folks, today I have another collection from Rescue Beauty Lounge! It's exciting to have another one so quickly, her releases are usually further apart but I don't mind at all because you know how I adore my RBLs! This collection is called Italian Summer.
The whiff of cool ocean breezes tickling your hair and the gleaming sun kissing and embracing your skin as you deeply breathe in the fragrances of flowers in full bloom, this, to me, had always symbolized summer. - Ji Baek, Italian Summer Press Release
First up is Gelato Al Cioccolato, of course inspired by chocolate gelato, a delicious Italian treat. I love taupe and I actually really enjoy brown polishes so this color is just perfect for me. In the sun it almost looks like it has a hint of purple which is cool. It was nice and buttery and was perfectly opaque in two coats. Mmm I can almost taste the chocolate just looking at this one!
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Gelato Al Cioccolato // kelliegonzo.com

Bicicletta is inspired by a young girl's pale pink sparkly bike Ji saw while in Italy. This is a gorgeous soft pale pink with lavender undertones. It's filled with the tiniest micro glitters ever, in silver and pink. This went on very smooth, great opacity in two coats. Reminds me of sugar, yum!
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Bicicletta // kelliegonzo.com

This is sexy. Gondoliere is a hot little number. It's named for the men who steer the gondolas floating in the canals around Venice. It's an orange based red, more so than previous RBL Bangin (which I sadly don't own). Almost a perfect one coat wonder, but I used two. It has that great thin but crazy pigmented and smooth crème formula that I love. If I was more of a red kinda girl, this would be on my digits on the reg. It's that good.
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Gondoliere // kelliegonzo.com

Now this color is more my normal style, Oliveto is an olive green that "reflects the flash of rainbow and purple and periwinkle shimmers". This is inspired by olive groves and the rustling olive branches in the sun. This was way more shimmery than I first expected looking at the bottle and I love it. Was a little thicker than the others. This is two coats.
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Oliveto // kelliegonzo.com

When I first saw Motorini, I was like, Aqua Lily? Is that you? Nope, it's not, but that's alright, it really stands on its own. Inspired by Ji's perfect scooter color, this is a darker and more blue version of Aqua Lily. I think it's a cross between it and Faraway. The shimmer is a purple toned pink which flashes in the light. It just glides on your nails, ahhh. Perfect in two thin coats.
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Motorini // kelliegonzo.com

A shade inspired by cats? I'm in heaven ;) Meow Meow comes from seeing the bright green eyes of cats flash in the dark during late night strolls in Italy. This glitter is really something, the bright springy hunter green is mixed with black which really makes the color pop. In the sun it almost has a navy look, but it's definitely black. This was harder to apply but not too difficult. I spread it like normal polish on the first coat, then kind of dabbed and pushed the glitter around on the second coat and it's pretty much totally opaque. It dries matte so top coat is necessary for a smooth look.
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Meow Meow // kelliegonzo.com

Melanzane is the last shade of the collection, inspired by eggplants. I have actually never tasted an eggplant, but they are pretty to look at. This is the same formula as Meow Meow, but with different sizes of glitter. The bigger pieces are in two shades of purple, a bluer one and a straight violet. The micro glitters are green which gives a ton of depth to the shade. This was easier to make look completely opaque. Two coats with top coat, as this also dries matte. Fabulous!
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Melanzane // kelliegonzo.com

Please take a look at Ji's inspiration video and her press release to learn more about this collection. Also, please check out the other RBL reviewers: Scrangie, NailsandNoms, Polish Police, Fashion Polish, Peachy Polish, Makeup Withdrawal, Manicurator and Warm Vanilla Sugar. Refined and Polished will have hers up at a later date.

These will go on pre-order for 48 hours on Monday, August 11, 2014. You can only get the link to the pre-sale emailed to you if you sign up for the RBL email list on their website beforehand. They will be available for purchase like normal at a later date if you cannot participate in the pre-sale. Each bottle is $20.

I really enjoyed this collection. The formulas of the non-glitters were so on point and easy to use. The glitters were just so lovely and unexpected, and their formulas were workable, so I'm not complaining at all. My favorites are probably Motorini and Meow Meow but I really like them all :) What do you think of these Italian beauties?

OPI Mustang Collection 2014 Swatches & Review

Hi folks! Today I wanted to show you the new OPI Mustang collection, a collaboration they did with Ford to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang. This collection has six colors. The retail versions have cute shrink wrapped handles with a print of the Mustang horse on it but mine came without them. Hope you like these!

First up is Angel With a Leadfoot, a bright white crème. I was hoping there was some type of hidden shimmer in this when I saw the press release, but alas it is a plain white. A bit thick, and I had some streaks on the first two coats. Not the best white I've ever tried, but far from the worst. This makes me look incredibly tan. Also, I have to mention, shouldn't it be "lead foot"? Just sayin. I ended up using three coats.
OPI Angel With a Leadfoot | kelliegonzo

Next is Girls Love Ponies, a cute fuchsia pink crème. I wish all crèmes were this consistency, thin but very opaque and really easy to apply. I tend to get bubbles in my manicures during the hot summer months so thin coats are a must to avoid that, and colors like this are perfect imo. This is two coats.
OPI Girls Love Ponies | kelliegonzo

Here is 50 Years of Style, a gold metallic. This one is pretty brush-strokey but that doesn't make it look bad in my opinion. It is less noticeable in person than the photo shows. I usually love golds of all types, but this one doesn't really do it for me for some reason. I used three coats for maximum coverage.
OPI 50 Years of Style | kelliegonzo

This is Race Red, a lovely orange poppy red crème. This had the same formula as Girls Love Ponies, just perfection in a bottle. I don't usually wear reds, but the orangeiness in this one makes it seem more wearable to me. This is two coats.
OPI Race Red | kelliegonzo

Next is Queen of the Road, a black with a light pearly metallic shimmer. This one played tricks on my eyes, in some lighting it appeared to have a dark green tone, then in others I thought maybe I saw navy blue. For some reason I had a really hard time getting a good photo of this, and unfortunately it ended up reflecting the sky a lot. I had some patchiness on this one, so I used three coats.
OPI Queen of the Road | kelliegonzo

Last in the collection, and my favorite, is The Sky's My Limit, a medium slightly tealish blue with tons of metallic shimmer in blue, green, and gold. This is similar to OPI Catch Me In Your Net, but it is more blue. This formula was fantastic, perfect in two thin coats. I was worried about this staining my nails but I wore it for a few days with two layers of base coat and didn't have any problems.
OPI The Sky's My Limit | kelliegonzo

So what do you think? Are you a Mustang fan? I have to admit, I'm not really into cars so I don't have an opinion based on that, but I do like most of these colors and think this is a pretty nice collection. These should be available now wherever OPI is sold. See you next time!

JulieG Santorini

Hi folks! I'm back today with a review on a new polish I got a few weeks ago from the brand JulieG by Jesse's Girl Cosmetics. The JulieG nail line is created by YouTube beauty blogger JulieG, check out her videos if you haven't heard of her, she's a doll! I haven't tried a ton of the brand's polishes, but the ones I have I really like.

This is Santorini from the 2014 Cruise Collection that came out this summer. I had seen pics of it on blogs and heard some of my favorite YT girls rave about it so I definitely needed to try it. It's a gorgeous pale cornflower blue with a pearly silver shimmer floating on top. Very beautiful, but unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the formula at all. It was streaky, gloopy, thick and didn't self-level. I had to work to get this to look nice, and I only think it turned out well (finally) due to my choice of top coat.
JulieG - Santorini | kelliegonzo

This is seriously my third attempt at getting a good manicure with it and that is going above and beyond what I will usually tolerate. I haven't heard complaints from anyone else with this formula though, so it makes me wonder if it was just a bad bottle or if maybe someone opened it in the store and "compromised" the formula, which can happen in public stores when products are not individually wrapped. This is four coats with top coat.
JulieG - Santorini | kelliegonzo

JulieG nail color is sold only at Rite Aid stores and online at the Jesse's Girl website for around $4. I don't live near a Rite Aid right now but my sister does and when we last saw each other she was kind enough to pick this up for me. Hopefully the next JulieG polish I try will work out better for me. Have you ever tried this brand? What do you think? Talk to you soon!
