Takko Lacquer Fall 2016 Collection [Partial] Swatches & Review

Hello dear friend of mine! How was/has been your holiday season this year so far? I literally cannot fathom how this is the last week of the year, it's so nutty to me. But out with the old, in with new I guess! Today I have some shimmers and glitters from indie brand Takko Lacquer's Fall 2016 collection to show you. I got these a bit late so pardon my tardiness, however there are a few restocks coming up if you're itching to get some. Let's take a look!

Winter Succulents is a cool, dusty sage green crème filled with gold micro flecks and actual silver dust. This leaves me breathless, so gorgeous and dainty and perfect for any time of year. Great, easy to apply formula, very opaque. I used two coats here.
Takko Lacquer Winter Succulents

Boyfriend Jeans is just like a deep dark pair of denim blue jeans, complimented with coppery red iridescent shimmer. Stunning and striking! This is two coats. Dries dull so you'll want a shiny top coat.
Takko Lacquer Boyfriend Jeans

Stoned was created to look like crushed marble quartz, it has a very light beige-grey base filled with black and gold micro flakies and a ton of golden shimmer flecks. This is another excellent polish, goes on like a dream and I got full coverage in two coats. The finish is dull and just the teensiest bit gritty upon dry down, but a top coat gives it a jolt of shine and smoothness.
Takko Lacquer Stoned

Queen Of Hearts is a cherry red jelly filled with a generous helping of different sizes of translucent gold flakies. Surprisingly not difficult, sometimes jellies like this filled with chunky accents can be, well...chunky, but this was just fine. A touch thick maybe, but very easy to handle. I used two coats. This looks darker indoors, but the sun kinda shines through the jelly to give it an inner glow.
Takko Lacquer Queen of Hearts

Starships is a greyed silver duochrome polish that flips to bright green and then to warm brownish copper, filled with holographic flakes to give a galaxy-esque look. Another great formula, went on effortlessly and opaque in two coats.
Takko Lacquer Starships

I had to give you a shade photo too, to show the duochrome better. I really love this!
Takko Lacquer Starships

Mariposa is a hearty pumpkin orange filled with golden shimmer and gold and pink glimmering flecks. This totally reminds me of Rescue Beauty Lounge NailsandNoms, only that one has blue shimmer and is a slightly more vibrant orange. Really nice formula, glides on the nail with ease. Very good coverage, you could almost get away with one coat, but I used two.
Takko Lacquer Mariposa

Narwhals is an icy periwinkle blue crème filled with tiny silver micro flakies. This was super buttery and crazy opaque! A one coater, but I did two like usual. The name of this makes me happy, so cute!
Takko Lacquer Narwhals

Merbunny is a sweet porcelain baby pink jelly filled with iridescent green and gold flakies. This can be built up on it's own or layered over darker colors for a different look. This one was on the thicker side but sheer. It was a touch streaky on two coats and my nail line was still visible, so I did three. I adore the look of the finished color, very princess-like.
Takko Lacquer Merbunny

You can purchase their products on the Takko Lacquer website; these are sold out now but will be restocked sometime in January. They range in price from $12-13 each. They will also be restocked at Color4Nails in January, no exact date yet. Let me know what you think of these shades! My favorite has to be Winter Succulents, but I really enjoyed them all! This may be my favorite group of Takkos I've tried from them yet!

Takko Lacquer Summer Shimmers Collection Swatches & Review

Hey darling dears, I have some delicious Takkos to share with you today! Except don't eat these. The Takko Lacquer Summer Shimmers collection is made up of five seriously incredible polishes that you can really only fully appreciate if you see them in person. But I'ma try my best to show off their true gorgeousness potential for you!

Rose Quartz is a soft rosy beige crème filled with silver and gold micro flakies and a finely milled silver dust shimmer. This is on the thick side, but applied nicely. I used two coats for full opacity. Dries a little dull because of the mineral based formula and added vitamin e that Takko uses, but a top coat brings out the sparkle.
Takko Lacquer Rose Quartz

Cactus Rose is a dark hunter green jelly filled with iridescent shimmer that shifts from red to pink and gold to green at different angles. This is seriously breathtaking, quite unique to my collection. Really great formula, surprisingly easy to build up for a jelly, this is just two coats. Also dries matte.
Takko Lacquer Cactus Rose

Druzy Quartz is an inky midnight indigo with a pink to green multichromatic shimmer. A tinge metallic, but very shimmer based. This was thin, but again I only needed two coats for coverage. I would recommend wrapping your tips because as you can see, the thin formula let the white tip of my nail peep through. This surprisingly didn't dry very dull, but I'd still recommend a top coat.
Takko Lacquer Druzy Quartz

Grape Juice has a deep reddish purple base filled with tons of green to purple iridescent micro flakie shimmer. IN.CRED.IB.LE. I cannot get enough of this shade, I love the large shimmer particles and how in your face they are! Another wonderful formula, two coats. Dries matte so be sure to use a top coat if you want a shiny finish.
Takko Lacquer Grape Juice

Star Crossed has a royal blue base with added blue metallic shimmer and scattered linear micro holographic flakie bits. I always adore these starry sky looking shades, so classic! This had a nice formula as well, I didn't have any issues with brushstrokes despite the metallic-ness. Two coats, dries down dull but pretty smooth.
Takko Lacquer Star Crossed

These will all be available, along with their Collection of Curiosities & Exquisites (crèmes and toppers), on Friday, July 8th at 8:30pm EST on the Takko Lacquer website. For international customers, they are planning a restock with MeiMeiSignatures & Color4Nails soon. Please let me know what you think about these pretty shimmahs! Are you excited by these as much as I am?? If you love Takkos, check out my friend Amy's (McPolish) Takko Tuesday feature on her blog! Talk to you again soon cookies!

Takko Lacquer Valentine's 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Hi there and happy Monday! :) I've got new polishes from Takko Lacquer to show you today! There are four polishes in their Valentine's collection and they will go on sale tonight, so let's take a look!

Salient has a clear base filled with actual silver dust, platinum and silver multi-sized flakies. You can definitely use this as a topper, but I wanted to show you what it looks like built up by itself. This is five coats. You could also use the sponging technique to get it even more opaque. I wanted to show it build up because it's actually Takko Lacquer creator Sheryl's wedding polish, and that's how she's planning on wearing it! Congrats girl!

Sweet Cheeks is a soft pink crème thermal that turns into a nude beige when warm. I don't seek out thermal polishes normally, considering I usually keep my nails relatively short and they don't seem to change color for me very well. This one is lovely though, I adore both shades and for someone with longer nails, or shorter nail beds, it will work great. (I realize now that it would've been helpful to show a picture of the shade when cold, my apologies.) Applies pretty well, a little streaking, but leveled out in three coats.
Takko Lacquer Sweet Cheeks

HUG LIFE is a cobalt blue jelly with pink shimmer, holographic flakies and holo shimmer sparks. Very easy to apply and opaque in two coats, but if you use thin coats you may need one more. This color seems unexpected in a V-Day collection, and I like that!
Takko Lacquer HUG LIFE

Mad Love is a mix of metallic gold, matte white and baby pink glitter and golden shimmer. I layered one coat of this over Sweet Cheeks and I love the look! You could also build it up by itself though because it's quite dense, you'd probably only need two or three coats. I love this so much!
Takko Lacquer Mad Love

You will be able to purchase these on the Takko Lacquer website today, Jan. 25th at 8pm EST! They retail for $12 each. Takkitos have been known to be a little hard to get in the past, they sell out pretty quickly, so be sure to set a reminder for yourself so you can pick these up! They have also set a one per person rule for each shade to be able to help with availability. Let me know what you think about these! My favorite is hands down Mad Love, but they're all great shades!

The Holo Hookup February 2016 Indie Collaboration Box Swatches & Review

Hi cookies! Today I have the upcoming box for The Holo Hookup to show you! This is a monthly collaboration box of holographic polishes between indie brands Different Dimension, Cupcake Polish, and Glisten & Glow with a surprise guest brand. This month the theme for the quartet is Elements and the guest brand is Takko Lacquer! Details on the pre-sale for this box will be down below, but first let's look at the colors!

First is Different Dimension Earth, a rich brown linear holographic with added multichrome flakies, as well as blue and green holo microglitters. This is incredibly beautiful, like pictures cannot do it justice, it's just like sunshine on harvest fields or something. And the application? Literally applied like butter! This is two coats. Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.
Different Dimension Earth

Cupcake Polish Air is a periwinkle linear holographic with strong pink shimmers that make it kind of a shapeshifter between soft blue and a purple. Another excellent formula, though a little on the thick side. Covered in just two coats. Air signs are Libra, Aquarius and Gemini. I'm an Air sign (Gemini!) so I totally love this shade the most!
Cupcake Polish Air

Fire by Glisten & Glow is a glowy red linear holographic with orange undertones with slight pink shift with scattered silver and red holo microglitters. The formula on this was thinner than the others, but very easy to apply. This is two coats. A little lighter in person, it was a difficult one to capture accurately. Fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
Glisten & Glow Fire

And last we have Takko Lacquer Water, a light aqua linear holographic with intense gold shimmer. I found this formula to also be really effortless to apply, with a slightly thicker feel than the others due to the shimmer. The first coat looks a little light, but only one more is needed for full opacity. I recommend top coat with all Takkos due to the vegan pigments and vitamin e that they use, which can make the lacquers dry more matte. Water signs are Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio.
Takko Lacquer Water

I love the theme of the box, I've always been interested in Astrology and elemental signs! This box will be up for pre-sale on The Holo Hookup website from January 21st at 9pm EST through January 28th at 9pm EST. The box costs $40 plus shipping. Let me know what you think about this month's colors & theme! And check out The Holo Hookup on Facebook and Instagram. See ya again soon!

Takko Lacquer Summer 2015 Collection Swatches & Review

What's up you crazy kids? I'm doing a lot better this week and things are looking up. I'm trying to stay positive and it's helped my stress level for sure. It's nice to blog honestly to keep my mind off other things, so I am thankful to have you as an audience to write for. Today I have the summer collection from Takko Lacquer to show you!

First up is Afternoon Delight, a soft peachy pink coral with green to gold iridescent shimmer. This was a little thick, but not difficult. This is two coats. This is such a "me" shade, I love it!
Takko Lacquer Afternoon Delight

Birthday Suit is a light taupe nude with golden shimmer and delicate holographic throughout the base. Easy to use and opaque in two coats.
Takko Lacquer Birthday Suit

This is Constellations, a navy blue jelly with actual silver flakies. This is more sheer due to the base being a jelly, but I got it opaque in three coats. I would recommend wrapping your tips so you don't see any white free edge. I love the silver flakies in this, very reminiscent of stars in the sky!
Takko Lacquer Constellations

Electric Flamingo is a neon pink with green/orange flakies. I was floored by this, so pretty and it practically painted itself on. Two coats. It's a jelly, so you can see a bit of nail line but I don't think it's enough that you'd need another coat. And in real life you can definitely see the different colors in the flakies, my camera just didn't want to pick that up.
Takko Lacquer Electric Flamingo

Next is El Nopal, a crelly cactus green with green/gold flakies. Another winner, just like Flamingo but in a delicious green and a bit more opaque. So pretty and covers in two coats. Same note on the flakies, they're definitely two-toned in real life.
Takko Lacquer El Nopal

Floridazed is a lush turquoise with pink shimmer. This is one of my favorite color combinations! This guy was a bit thinner than the rest, but two coats ended up being all I needed. It dries very quickly and more matte than the rest. All Takko Lacquers dry matte to satin due to the mineral pigments and Vitamin E they use in their formula so a top coat is a must for a shiny finish.
Takko Lacquer Floridazed

And last we have Xocomil, a periwinkle purple with actual silver dust. I showed you this in my last post with a glitter layered over it. I am in love with periwinkle this year and this one is no exception. So pigmented and rich but still slightly muted, and that shimmer just takes it over the edge for me. Two easy coats. Dries a bit darker than it looks in the bottle.
Takko Lacquer Xocomil

This collection and the two new shades I reviewed in my last post will be available on their website for $13 each tonight 7/28 at 8 pm EST (USA). I hear they can sell out quickly so don't hesitate to pick these up if you are interested. What do you think of these pretty takkitos? Thanks for joining me today!

Takko Lacquer New Releases Swatches & Review

Hello and happy Sunday Funday! It is definitely a fun day for me because I'm bringing you two new indie shades from Takko Lacquer! I was pleased as punch when Sheryl the owner of the company asked me if I'd like to review their latest colors and of course said yes please! Takkitos, the nickname for their polishes, are very popular in the nail community and I love being able to share in demand colors with you all!

First is C.R.E.A.M. (Cake Rules Everything Around Me), the polish they made for the 3rd birthday of their brand! Yay for birthdays! This shade is a baby pink crelly with golden shimmer and multicolored matte teeny tiny hex glitters, inspired by pink funfetti cake! It was easy to work with and was opaque in two coats.
Takko Lacquer C.R.E.A.M.

And next is Kitsch, a polish that Sheryl created for the Cosmoprof North America convention that just happened earlier this month in Las Vegas. I wish I could've gone again! (I went one year, it ruled!) This polish has various shades of pink glitters, holographic silver shimmer and holo flakies in a clear base. Once dried it has a pink sugar cotton candy scent, which is so perfect for me! I used one coat over another Takko Lacquer called Xocomil, which I'll be reviewing soon. Kitsch is super easy to apply with great glitter payoff! I love this combo!
Takko Lacquer Kitsch

It's important to note that all Takko Lacquer polishes are 5 free, mineral based, 100% cruelty free and are infused with Vitamin E, so they all dry satin or matte. Both of these dried satiny so I used a shiny top coat.

These will be available at TakkoLacquer.com on July 28th at 8 pm EST for $13 each. I'm really happy with these two shades, and am excited to also be bringing you swatches of their summer collection very soon! Let me know what you think about these two beauties!

Takko Lacquer Jabberwocky and Physical Graffiti Swatches & Review

Hi there friends! How has your November been going? I've been having a stressful few weeks at work, but things should be going smoother soon. I'm definitely looking forward to Thanksgiving next week and having a few extra days off.

Today I wanted to show you two new polishes from Takko Lacquer, my first ones from the brand. These were released in late October as half of their Fall collection. First up is Jabberwocky, a light tealy turquoise jelly with coppery shimmer that shifts green. It was a little more sheer than I expected, I used three coats here. It dries a bit matte so you'll need a shiny top coat.

The reason I decided to take the plunge on Takko finally is for Physical Graffiti, the promo images just made me swoon! It's a mushroomy grey crelly with platinum metallic flake shards. There might be some black bits in there too, I couldn't really tell. They might be unmixed pigment or some of the flakes reflecting weirdly. Whatever the case, I'd rather there was more of them or if they were left out altogether. It looks like a mistake to have them appear so sporadically. This was also on the sheer side, I used three coats here.

I purchased these for $13 each from their website, but they are sold out at the moment. Takko Lacquers are also sold at stockists Llarowe, Mei Mei's Signatures & Femme Fatale. Overall I liked these two colors, but they were different than I expected them to be. Have you tried anything from this brand?

Have an awesome day folks!

❤ Kellie
