I had written off the red flakie polish that Barielle put out in their Holiday collection last year,
Elle's Spell. It was just too thick and goopy and blech. But then I saw my girl
Nailing It on tumblr layer it over a dark blurple, Orly's
Wild Wisteria, on Tumblr. Um, WOWZA! I had to track it down again (I had foolishly swapped mine, 'doh!).
Polish Pauper was gracious enough to trade with me and I got set layering this baby on everything I could get my hands on! Here is it is in it's original red splendor, one coat layered over two coats of Nubar
Sateen.
Have a lovely day dearies :)

ReplyDeleteLooks great! Glad I could help!
ReplyDeleteI love this color! I can't believe you traded it away! I've used this color over a cherry red, and also over black, which looks like a black opal. It's stunning.

ReplyDeleteP.S. That tumblr (not mine) is called nailing it!, Nailin' It! is my blog. Just a heads up. :)

I LOVE this shade from Barielle. I never had a problem with mine being thick and goopy. I do keep Zoya's Renew on hand to thin polishes that I think are too tick or have aged that way. I really like that brand in particular for thinning. It's part of the Zoya color-lock system if anyone wants to buy it in a full system that is pretty great. I think Zoya's base coat is one of my favs. Back to Barielle polish - anyone tried any of the Barielle metallics? I want to put in an order soon as I can allow myself to buy. I don't see swatches on line for any that I have been thinking of. There is a taupe metallic, a fuchsia metallic and a couple others I have marked to my lists since I have to make sure I have an even # of bottles on a Barelle order with their BOGO half price always.
ReplyDeleteGAHHHH I've had the hugest lemming for E'sS ever since it came out and my ULTA has never gotten it. So tragic! I want it so bad :(
