Please enjoy this guest post by my friend Rory from Varnish Vixen!I used to really like this outfit, until one of my classmates told me I looked like a first grade teacher or a "Stepford Wife" when wearing it. He didn’t mean either to be a compliment, and as a result I’ve become anxious about wearing this dress (ahhh New York, so full of kind hearted souls!).
A year has passed since my classmate gave me his unsolicited opinion, so I figured it was about time I gave this dress some love. When I pulled it out of my closet today, I realized no sane first grade teacher would ever wear this to work. First off, the dress is strapless. Would anyone in their right mind wear a strapless dress while running around after a bunch of six and seven year olds? I’ve seen a teacher wardrobe malfunction (my freshman English teacher’s slip fell down while she was lecturing) and it isn’t the kind of event I would encourage via a strapless dress!
I’m wearing Essie Splash of Grenadine with this outfit because I feel like it compliments the colors in the dress without being too matchy-matchy (although I'm clearly taking the flower theme way too far!). Splash of Grenadine is part of Essie’s 2010 Resort Collection and has that lovely jelly-crème finish that I love!
I love Rory's style, her fashion-shoot-editoral way of blogging is addicting and pleasing to the eyes! She is a doll and so freaking awesome, I wish we were neighbors! Love you girl, thanks for the post!

This is definitely my favorite Essie! Loving the pics! ♥
ReplyDeleteAgain, an awesome post by Varnish Vixen!
ReplyDeleteI love this color and the way she shows it :) So awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteI love that dress! It doesn't look "stepford" at all!
ReplyDeletePretty purple!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's the dress, I think it's the way the cardigan is with the one button :)
I love her pictures too!! They are amazing!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI love that dress- floral is very hot right now. Don't listen to him. Guys have no idea what they're talking about...you know we girls really dress for each other anyway.
ReplyDeleteI've told her many times on her blog ... but I totally want her to come dress me. She has the best fashion sense.
ReplyDeleteSorry but that guy was completely rude and ignorant. Love the dress. No one in their right mind would wear this to teach 1st grade. You really would have some boob spillage! Love the little cardi also. Pretty manicure and the ring is adorable also.
ReplyDeleteRory rlz!
ReplyDeleteI adore this shade. It's a pink - no, it's in the purples - gads, I was pulling my hair out on what shade to put it in when I entered it into my database of polishes.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, your classmate is a jerk so his opinion isn't valid. :p
ReplyDeleteI love the dress! I'm a fan of floral prints dresses matched with cardigans so I may be a little biased. :)
This is a great post. Very fun and inspiring to bloggers. Polish is pretty, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!! And Kellie for letting me do a guest post on your amazing blog! I was out of town for the last 4 days without my laptop (I regretted not packing it as soon as I got off the plane). Eeeeek...I'll never do that again!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, and it matches your glasses perfectly :)
