the zoya color spoon

when i first heard this idea, i was ecstatic, no joke kids. i think this is an epic idea that will probably become standard with online nail polish retailers in the coming years. seriously, what's to lose? NOTHING. you buy a few spoons to find your perfect color, and even if you just buy one polish afterwards, you don't lose anything because the amount you spent on the spoons goes toward paying for it!  genius.  if you are are a careful shopper, are wary about buying polish online, or just want to make sure you are picking out colors that will be just as fantastic in real life as they look on your computer screen, i definitely recommend trying out this option at Zoya.com.

untamed luxury pt. 2 indulgence

hiii folks :D today for your tuesday enjoyment i have the second half of the untamed luxury collection by color club, named every shade of indulgence. i like this set much better than the shimmer/diamond set i showed you first, i was very pleased with all except one of them.

i'll get the dud out of the way first, haha. pretty in platinum honestly is a cool color, i just can't work with polishes like these. it's a slightly gray tinged white polish with a pearl finish. i tried to do thin coats, but ended up with bubbling anyway, and some brushstrokes. i actually this color a lot, but the formula was beyond me. so one thumb down, one thumb up.
wild orchid reminds me a bit of pixie dust by orly, but a bit darker and almost smokey.  almost-blue lavender-ish gray with a wave of blue/silver iridescence.  this is two coats of fanciful lovely :)
awww lovely cremes :) this shiny baby is called positively posh.  it's a brown mushroomy taupe with a hint of purple. la la love these types of colors!  just like minty greens, i think i might have to own them all haha!  i did two thin coats, but three might have been better with this slightly watery polish.
soft as cashmere looked to die for in the promo photos i saw and it did not disappoint when i finally got it on my tips!  a gorgeous greige (grey, beige) and do i detect a tinge of green?  it has about the same watery texture as posh so it would probably look best with three coats, but this is two :)
nothing but truffle is probably my favorite out of the entire collection.  it's one of the glowy, burns from within colors that i love, but it has a hidden gold sparkle shimmer that just blew me away.  it's a deep chocolate brown that is so intense and mesmerizing that i just can't say enough about it!
jewel of a girl is another glow-from-within shimmery number and i totes love this one too. this is a beautiful luxe burgundy red color that has a hint of purple in it at certain angles. j'adore :)
ready to royal is an almost black dark purple "eggplant" shade that is a creme jelly, not quite a jelly but not quite a creme. essie does creme jellys a lot and come to think of it, this reminds me of an essie, velvet voyeur anyone? i quite like this, it's very vampy. opi's william tell me about opi is also very similar, and i probably like that one the best out of the three, but this is a very affordable alternative.
*phew* i am very happy to show you these swatches :) thanks for looking and tell me what you think about these!

untamed luxury pt. 1 diamonds

the untamed luxury collection from color club was extremely buzzed about in the beauty community this summer. mostly because, no one knew much about it! a few people had seen a promo image at the beginning of the year or sometime around then, but nothing much was spoken about it until it's launch date. and that's just fine with me. i would almost rather have it that way, although it is nice to have fair warning sometimes, to be able to budget and plan for a collection ;) but all those months of anticipation can kill ya!

the collection is split in two sets, the first one i will share is called "covered in diamonds". the first color is called de-luxe-cious. this has a greyish blue base with a ton of glitter in blue, silver, and gold. i didn't know if i would like this one, but once i had it on, i decided i really loved it! easy to maneuver and dried to the touch while i was swatching, so that's a plus!  this is two coats, but a third would probably look even better.
snakeskin was a color that i thought i was going to loooove. turns out i was wrong. it is a metallic grey (in certain lights it looks green i swear!) with sparkley gold glitz buried within. sounds right up my alley. well i had a helluva time applying this one and it turned out a mess. i didn't take a lot of care to clean this guy up because i was frustrated with it, so i apologize for the messy swatch.
ms. hautie is a funny name, it makes me think of a rich snobby brat with her nose in the air haha. but this polish unfortunately did not make me laugh, or smile. the bottle color is certainly promising, really pretty light grey with a pink flash and tiny bits of holo glitter! reminds me of pixie dust :D but once i had it on and it started to dry, all the glitter rose to the top and the polish sunk to the bottom. i was left with a grainy, metallic mess. i just read on diana's (painted lady fingers) review of this polish that three coats seem to be its magic number, so maybe i'll try that next time i wear this guy and hope for the best.
red velvet (heeey i just posted a polish named that!) is a black jelly filled with tiny red glitter. this polish looks like some we've seen in the past, eyeko's vampira, china glaze's lubu heels, etc. but this one gave me extreme trubs in the application department. it was très thick and i had to glob it on. i was not a happy camper. but once i did have it on it was kinda pretty despite its gloopyness. the pictures show it w/o a topcoat, but i think i would def. need one to smooth this guy out.
untamed luxury, the collection's namesake, is a stunning turquoise glitter swimming in a teal jelly base that is guaranteed to turn some heads. if you're thinking that maybe it looks a little like zoya's charla and orly's halley's comet? well...you'd sort of be right, they're all in the same color family but this polish is definitely a different finish. i had to use three coats to build this one up, and you can see there on the edges some of my nail still peeks through.  p.s. it wasn't hard to remove! (i wore it as a full mani).
and here we have resort to red, a very pretty polish indeed! a pinkish red that was very flattering and sexy on me if i do say so myself ;) i wore this one as a full mani and i don't usually go for this type of color. brush strokes came up when i was painting this on, but seemed to disappear once it dried.
i topped resort to red off with the set's glitter topcoat called covered in diamonds. now i know a lot of people are going to really really love this and i have to say, it mesmerizes me to look at in the bottle, but i don't care for this much. the glitter is soft but it's hmmm...how do i explain this...3d? it's not the traditional flakie glitter like nfu-oh or the new sally hansen hidden treasure that lays flat, it's flexible and soft so that you can manipulate it the way you want it to lie. which for some folks would be great, it's just not my cup o' tea. needless to say, it is really cool looking on the nail, i just found it a big hard to work with and messy.
so, for part 1, i'm half pleased, half not so much. but really, color club's originality, creativity, and affordability can't be beat.  you can get each bottle for $2.25 at Victoria Nail Supply.  let me know what you think about these pretties :)  part 2 is coming up soon!

nox twilight disco darling

this is the last of the nox twilight polishes i have to show you all for now. and it is the one with the worst name. but it is perhaps the funnest polish out of the bunch. disco darling. mmm. yep. can i ask you what in the hell does disco have to do with twilight?? nothing. we'll call this one sparkles like diamonds, because it does--just like edward in the sun heehee.

this polish is pretty spectacular. it's a little on the thick side, but i forgave it since it's full of holographic silver sparkley glitter goodness. one coat is good for a topcoat, adding some sexy sparkle to a nice creme or something. and three brings it to it's full opaque potential, holo-rific! gorgeous inside or out.

would you wear this glitter bomb? or would you prefer it as a topcoat? i prefer it on it's own, but that's just me :)

nox twilight red velvet & crush

two more twilight polishes for you kiddies :D getting sick of them yet? well you shouldn't be, i've only done three of them haha.

red velvet is probably my favorite red polish in a long time. it's smooth, jelly, and perfectly formulated. i absolutely did not want to take this baby off! and the first twilight polish name that i didn't hate, although it's still not totally twilight-ish. i had to rename it--i just had to!! so meet rosalie, perfect huh? this is two coats, with slight visible nail line. i have a feeling you'd get a bit with three even, but hey it's a jelly!

crush, if you ask me, has no place in this collection. it's bright, loud, and a neon. not at all what i think of when i think of twilight. but oh well, wah wah wah. i didn't even want to rename this one, because i can't think of anything twilight related to name it. except maybe jessica, but that doesn't fit with the others...so there ya go. jessica it is! haha ;) (no offense to any of my friends named jessica heehee)
the polish applied very nice, although not as well as the others in this collection. two coats, dried semi-matte as all neons tend to. a pretty standard neon pink but i like it well enough! non-streaky which is a big plus!

would you wear either of these colors? are you feeling any of the twilight polishes? are you ask excited as i am to see the new twilight movie? or are you anti-twilight? i think i've told you before that i'm more of a twilight book person, but i appreciate the movies for what they are. although i think they have some of the worst acting i've ever seen ;) have a great one all!
